Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A light-emitting device or a display device that is less likely to be broken is provided. Provided is a light-emitting device including an element layer and a substrate over the element layer. At least a part of the substrate is bent to the element layer side. The substrate has a light-transmitting property and a refractive index that is higher than that of the air. The element layer includes a light-emitting element that emits light toward the substrate side. Alternatively, provided is a light-emitting device including an element layer and a substrate covering a top surface and at least one side surface of the element layer. The substrate has a light-transmitting property and a refractive index that is higher than that of the air. The element layer includes a light-emitting element that emits light toward the substrate side.

The invention claimed is: 1. A light-emitting device comprising: an element layer comprising a top surface side, a bottom surface side opposite to the top surface side, and a light-emitting element configured to emit light toward the top surface side; a substrate facing the top surface side of the element layer and attached to the element layer; and an insulator on and in contact with the bottom surface side of the element layer, a side surface of the element layer, and a side surface of the substrate, wherein the substrate has a light-transmitting property and a refractive index higher than a refractive index of air, and wherein an end portion of the substrate is bent to an element layer side. 2. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , further comprising: a bonding layer comprising a resin and a particle between the element layer and the substrate, wherein the particle has a refractive index different from a refractive index of the resin. 3. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the insulator covers the bottom surface side of the element layer, and a side surface of the substrate. 4. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , further comprising: wherein the insulator covers the bottom surface side of the element layer and a top surface side of the substrate. 5. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , further comprising: a power storage device placed on the bottom surface side of the element layer. 6. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , further comprising: a power storage device placed on the bottom surface side of the element layer; and a protective layer covering the power storage device. 7. The light-emitting device according to claim 6 , wherein the protective layer covers a portion of the substrate bent to the element layer side. 8. The light-emitting device according to claim 6 , wherein the protective layer overlaps with the element layer without any part of the substrate positioned therebetween. 9. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein a part of a light extraction portion is bent. 10. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein the substrate is bent so that a first region of the substrate faces a second region of the substrate. 11. The light-emitting device according to claim 1 , wherein an external shape of the light-emitting device is fixed. 12. A light-emitting device comprising: an element layer comprising a top surface side, a bottom surface side opposite to the top surface side, and a light-emitting element configured to emit light toward the top surface side; and a substrate facing the top surface side of the element layer and attached to the element layer, wherein the substrate has a light-transmitting property and a refractive index higher than a refractive index of air, wherein an end portion of the element layer is above an end portion of the substrate, and wherein the end portion of the substrate and the end portion of the element layer are bent toward the bottom surface side of the element layer so that a first region of the element layer and a second region of the element layer face each other. 13. The light-emitting device according to claim 12 , further comprising: a bonding layer comprising a resin and a particle between the element layer and the substrate, wherein the particle has a refractive index different from a refractive index of the resin. 14. The light-emitting device according to claim 12 , further comprising: an insulator covering the bottom surface side of the element layer, a side surface of the element layer, and a side surface of the substrate. 15. The light-emitting device according to claim 12 , further comprising: an insulator covering the bottom surface side of the element layer and a top surface side of the substrate. 16. The light-emitting device according to claim 12 , further comprising: a power storage device placed on the bottom surface side of the element layer. 17. The light-emitting device according to claim 12 , further comprising: a power storage device placed on the bottom surface side of the element layer; and a protective layer covering the power storage device. 18. The light-emitting device according to claim 17 , wherein the protective layer covers a portion of the substrate bent to the element layer side. 19. The light-emitting device according to claim 17 , wherein the protective layer overlaps with the element layer without any part of the substrate positioned therebetween. 20. The light-emitting device according to claim 12 , wherein a part of a light extraction portion is bent. 21. The light-emitting device according to claim 12 , wherein an external shape of the light-emitting device is fixed. 22. A light-emitting device comprising: an element layer comprising a top surface side, a bottom surface side opposite to the top surface side, and a light-emitting element configured to emit light toward the top surface side; a substrate facing the top surface side of the element layer and attached to the element layer; and an insulator on and in contact with the bottom surface side of the element layer, a side surface of the element layer, and a side surface of the substrate, wherein the substrate has a light-transmitting property and a refractive index higher than a refractive index of air, and wherein an end portion of the substrate and an end portion of the element layer are bent toward the bottom surface side of the element layer so that a first region of the element layer and a second region of the element layer face each other. 23. The light-emitting device according to claim 22 , wherein an external shape of the light-emitting device is fixed.
