A device for occluding a flexible tube comprising a first body frictionally connected to a second body by a spring-loaded clip. A flexible tube having a first end and a second end is secured in a bent position to each body by a plurality of clamps. When the two bodies are separated by a predetermined threshold force acting axially on either the first end or second end of the tube so as to cause the bent section of tubing to straighten, the spring-load clip occludes the tube secured by the second body.

The invention claimed is: 1. A device for occluding a flexible tube comprising: a first body for holding a first section of the flexible tube; a second body defining a space for holding a second section of the flexible tube, the second body frictionally connected to and separable from the first body by a spring-loaded member mounted to the second body; the spring loaded member having a first end configured to engage an element of the first body by applying a spring force against the element, biasing a second end of the spring loaded member into a retracted position adjacent the space defined by the second body; the second end of the spring loaded member being induced to move into the space defined by the second body when the first end of the spring loaded member is disengaged from the element of the first body; the first and second bodies configured to hold the flexible tube on the device so that the flexible tube extends away from the device in a longitudinal direction and is immobilized in a longitudinally bent position on the device; wherein the spring loaded member is configured so that the spring force holding the first end of the spring loaded member on the element of the first body is overcome by a pre-determined amount of pulling force applied to the flexible tube along the longitudinal direction when mounted on the device, causing the second body to separate from the first body, and the second end of the spring loaded member to encroach the space defined by the second body. 2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the spring loaded member is a spring-loaded clip. 3. The device of claim 2 , wherein the element of the first body is a post, and the spring-loaded clip is configured to engage the post. 4. The device of claim 3 , wherein the post is a cylindrical hub. 5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the flexible tube is held in position on the first and second bodies by two or more clamps. 6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the pulling force is applied on the first section of the flexible tube or the second section of the flexible tube. 7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the pulling force is sufficient to begin straightening the bent position of the flexible tube. 8. The device of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined pulling force is sufficient to cause the first end of the spring-loaded member to slide off the element of the first body. 9. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first and second bodies continue to hold the flexible tube after the first and second bodies are separated.
