A medical device includes an alloy having a microstructure that provides desirable properties. The alloy can be a eutectoid composition of e.g. titanium as a major constituent and any combination of iridium, platinum, chromium, gold, silver, bismuth, manganese, palladium, cobalt, copper, iron, and/or nickel as a minor constituent, wherein the alloy forms at least a portion of the medical device.

What is claimed is: 1. A medical device, comprising: a composition comprising a mixture comprising a first phase comprising titanium, and a plurality of regions comprising a second phase different from the first phase, the second phase comprising titanium and a first element, each region of the plurality of regions having an average width of from approximately 0.1 μm to approximately 10 μm, wherein the composition comprises from approximately 10 percent to approximately 40 percent by weight Bi.
