Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A technique for obtaining a radio frequency (RF) performance metric estimate for a receiver used for at least one of a positioning measurement and a timing measurement is described. A method implementation of that technique includes the steps of calculating at least one of a detection probability and a false alarm rate for a radio signal usable for the measurement, and obtaining at least one RF performance metric estimate for the receiver based on at least one of the calculated detection probability and the calculated false alarm rate.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one RF performance metric estimate comprises the at least one of the calculated detection probability and the calculated false alarm rate. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein obtaining the at least one RF performance metric comprises obtaining the at least one RF performance metric estimate for the receiver of a measuring node in the form of a Location Measurement Unit (LMU). 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method is a testing procedure for the receiver. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one RF performance metric value comprises at least one of a reference or target detection probability and a reference or target false alarm rate. 6. The method of claim 1 : wherein obtaining the at least one RF performance metric comprises: obtaining a first RF performance metric estimate based on the calculated detection probability; and obtaining a second RF performance metric estimate based on the calculated false alarm rate; and wherein verifying the at least one RF performance metric estimate comprises verifying the first and second RF performance metric estimates. 7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising performing the calculating and obtaining steps at a test equipment node for a measuring node comprising the receiver. 8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising: receiving, by the test equipment node, measurement results from the measuring node; and analyzing, by the test equipment node, the measurement results to determine whether the measuring device complies with one or more requirements. 9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the detection probability is indicative of a presence of the radio signal. 10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the false alarm rate is indicative of a radio signal determination that the radio signal is not present. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein calculating the at least one of the detection probability and the false alarm rate comprises calculating the at least one of the detection probability and the false alarm rate per receiver or antenna port of a measuring node. 12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiver is compliant with Long Term Evolution (LTE) and wherein calculating the at least one of the detection probability and the false alarm rate comprises calculating the at least one of the detection probability and the false alarm rate for a radio signal comprising an uplink Sounding Reference Signal (SRS). 13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the reference channel is specified for a physical reference signal. 14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the physical reference signal comprises a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS). 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein: the receiver is compliant with Long Term Evolution (LTE); calculating the at least one of the detection probability and the false alarm rate comprises calculating the at least one of the detection probability and the false alarm rate for a radio signal comprising an uplink Sounding Reference Signal (SRS); and the reference channel is used to transmit one or more SRS parameters to permit detection of the uplink SRS. 16.
