A method and a device for fitting and removal of brake calipers ( 2 ), the device having a frame portion ( 38 ) connected to a fastening portion ( 40 ) for fastening the device ( 36 ) on the brake caliper ( 2 ). The frame portion ( 38 ) is provided with a lifting device ( 42 ), ( 44 ). The fastening portion ( 40 ) has connecting portions ( 18 ) engaged with at least one fastening point ( 20 ) for a component. A brake caliper bracket ( 16 ) which cooperates with the brake caliper ( 2 ). The connecting portions ( 18 ) of the fastening portion ( 40 ) are of substantially the same geometrical shape as the brake caliper bracket's connecting portions ( 18 ) which connect with the brake caliper ( 2 ).

The invention claimed is: 1. A device for fitting and removal of a brake caliper having at least one fastening point configured for connection to a connecting portion of a brake caliber bracket, the device comprising: a frame portion, and a fastening portion for fastening the device on the brake caliper, wherein the frame portion and the fastening portion are connected to one another, and the frame portion having lifting means for connecting a lifting device, the fastening portion comprises a connecting portion configured to engage with the at least one fastening point, and the connecting portion of the fastening portion is of substantially the same geometrical shape as the connecting portion of the brake caliper bracket. 2. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the frame portion and the fastening portion are adjustably connected to one another to allow the lifting means for connecting the lifting device to be on a vertical line which runs through a center of gravity of the brake caliper. 3. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the frame portion is configured to allow the lifting means for connecting the lifting device to be located at different points on the frame portion depending on an orientation of the brake caliper. 4. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the lifting means for connecting the lifting device is a loop. 5. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the frame portion is configured to allow the fastening portion to be located at different points on the frame portion depending on an orientation of the brake caliper. 6. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the frame portion has an arcuate shape. 7. A device according to claim 1 , wherein the frame portion is provided with at least one contact surface appropriate to the brake caliper.
