A respiratory mask assembly includes a frame, a forehead support, and an adjustment mechanism including a single finger-operated push button to allow selective adjustment of the forehead support relative to the frame. The frame includes a support arm and a housing provided to a free end of the support arm. The housing includes a front side including a closed configuration, a rear side, and a receiving space extending from the rear side and structured to slidably receive a slider of the forehead support. The forehead support is slidably mounted for linear movement in a direction which is substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the support arm. The single finger-operated push button includes a portion that extends through an opening provided in a top side of the housing.

What is claimed is: 1. A respiratory mask assembly for treatment of sleep disordered breathing, the respiratory mask assembly comprising: a frame; a cushion which at least in part defines a cavity, wherein the cushion provides an aperture capable of receiving at least a patient's nose, and wherein the cushion includes: a face contacting portion, a non-face contacting portion, and a gusset portion between the face contacting portion and the non-face contacting portion, wherein the gusset portion includes an underside notch configured to provide flexibility and increased travel at a nasal bridge region of the cushion; and an air delivery connection supported by the frame and adapted to connect an air delivery conduit to supply air to the cavity, wherein the gusset portion has a greater projected outer area than the non-face contacting portion at the nasal bridge region, and wherein the gusset portion includes a hanging portion that, when seen in cross-section, hangs over an adjacent exterior surface of the cushion. 2. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the gusset portion includes an outer wall configured to fold over and outside of an inner wall of the gusset portion when the face contacting and non-face contacting portions are compressed towards one another. 3. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the gusset portion has a cross-section that includes a first thickness in a first portion and a second thickness in a second portion, and said second thickness is greater than said first thickness. 4. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 3 , wherein said first thickness and said second thickness are selected to control an outer area of the cushion to be substantially constant when the gusset portion is under tension and/or compression. 5. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 3 , wherein said first thickness and said second thickness are selected to control an outer profile of the cushion at the gusset portion to be substantially constant when the gusset portion is under tension and/or compression. 6. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the cushion includes an increased cross-sectional thickness in a region of the non-face contacting portion near the gusset portion. 7. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein a region with the underside notch has a longer path length than an upperside region. 8. The respiratory mask assembly according claim 1 , wherein the gusset portion includes a constant projected outer area under extension and compression. 9. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the gusset portion is provided only at the nasal bridge region of the cushion. 10. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the mask assembly is adapted to supply air at least to the patient's nose. 11. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 10 , wherein the mask assembly is adapted to supply air to the patient's mouth. 12. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the mask assembly is adapted to seal to the patient in a region directly below the patient's lower lip. 13. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the gusset portion is thinner in cross-section than a thickness of the non-face contacting portion. 14. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the cushion is stiffer at a cheek region than the nasal bridge region of the cushion. 15. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a relatively rigid portion near the nasal bridge region. 16. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 15 , wherein the relatively rigid portion is a beam. 17. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 15 , wherein the relatively rigid portion extends from one side, over an apex and then to the other side of the nasal bridge region. 18. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 17 , wherein the relatively rigid portion is narrower near the apex than the sides of the relatively rigid portion. 19. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the cushion is formed in one piece. 20. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a forehead support. 21. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the frame comprises a connection for headgear. 22. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a headgear assembly. 23. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the non-face contacting portion provides at least a portion of a breathing chamber forming portion defining a mask interior breathing chamber. 24. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 23 , wherein the breathing chamber forming portion defines at least a portion of a front side of the mask assembly and the face contacting portion defines at least a portion of a rear side of the mask assembly, the breathing chamber forming portion, when provided to the frame, forms an exterior surface exposed at the front side of the mask assembly. 25. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 23 , wherein the frame is external to the mask interior breathing chamber. 26. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 23 , wherein the breathing chamber forming portion is formed in one piece with the face contacting portion and the gusset portion. 27. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a reinforcing member provided between the gusset portion and the face contacting portion at the nasal bridge region of the cushion. 28. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the gusset portion in its entirety protrudes laterally outwardly with respect to the non-face contacting portion. 29. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the gusset portion includes only a single gusset that protrudes laterally outwardly with respect to the non-face contacting portion. 30. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the exterior surface of the cushion is positioned exterior of the cavity. 31. The respiratory mask assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the gusset portion includes an outer wall configured to fold over and outside of an inner wall of the gusset portion when the face contacting and non-face contacting portions are compressed towards one another, wherein the gusset portion has a cross-section that includes a first thickness in a first portion and a second thickness in a second portion, and said second thickness is greater than said first thickness, wherein the cushion includes an increased cross-sectional thickness in a region of the non-face contacting portion near the gusset portion, wherein the mask assembly is adapted to supply air at least to the patient's nose, wherein the mask assembly is adapted to supply air to the patient's mouth, wherein the mask assembly is adapted to seal to the patient in a region directly below the patient's lower lip, wherein a thickness of the gusset portion is thinner in cross-section than a thickness of the non-face contacting portion, wherein the cushion at a cheek region is stiffer than the cushion at the nasal bridge region, further comprising a relatively rigid portion
