We claim: 1. A compound of formula (XX) wherein each R 0 is hydrogen or the nitrogen protecting group, benzyloxycarbonyl (CBz); and wherein the two R 0 groups are the same; R 8 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C 1-4 alkyl; Z is selected from the group consisting of N and CH; n is 1 or 2; R 9 , R 10 and R 11 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and C 1-4 alkyl; provided that when R 8 is hydrogen, R 9 is hydrogen, R 10 is hydrogen, Z is N, n is 1or 2 and R 11 is methyl, then R 0 is the nitrogen protecting group, benzyloxycarbonyl (CBz) or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 2. A compound as in claim 1 , wherein Z is CH. 3. A compound as claim 1 , wherein the compound of formula (XX) is a compound of formula (XX-S) or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 4. A compound as in claim 3 , wherein each R 0 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and benzyloxycarbonyl (CBz); and wherein the two R 0 groups are the same.
