Official abstract text for this publication.
The embodiments relate to, among other things, a network interface unit (IM-MGW) in which signaling data is separated from useful data by the values of received data. The signaling data is tunneled to a control unit (MGCF). Two different data transmission networks (CS, IMS) can thus be simply combined, in particular, for video telephony.

The invention claimed is: 1. A method for signaling by means of signaling messages between a control unit and an interworking unit, comprising: transmitting of a first H.248 ADD.req message from the control unit to the interworking unit, transmitting of a first H.248 ADD.resp message from the interworking unit to the control unit, transmitting of a second H.248 ADD.req message from the control unit to the interworking unit, transmitting of a second H.248 ADD.resp message from the interworking unit to the control unit, executing of an H.223 Multiplexing Level Negotiation by the interworking unit, transmitting of a first H.248 MOD.req message from the control unit to the interworking unit, transmitting of a first H.248 MOD.resp message from the interworking unit to the control unit, transmitting of a second H.248 MOD.req message from the control unit to the interworking unit, and transmitting of a second H.248 MOD.resp message from the interworking unit to the control unit. 2. The method as claimed in 1 , wherein a bearer connection is set up by the interworking unit. 3. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein one or more of the following actions are executed by the interworking unit or by the control unit: H.245: Terminal Capability Set, Master Slave Termination, H.245: Terminal Capability Set Ack, Master Slave Termination Ack, H.245: Open Logical Channel H.245: Open Logical Channel Ack. 4. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the method is used for setting up a video telephony connection. 5. The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the method is used for setting up a connection between a first terminal and a second terminal.
