Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An apparatus includes a housing, a medicament container, an actuator, and a biasing member. The actuator is configured to move the medicament container within the housing when the actuator is moved from a first configuration to a second configuration. The actuator includes a gas container and a puncturer. When the actuator is in the first configuration, a portion of the puncturer is disposed apart from the gas container. When the actuator is in the second configuration, the portion of the puncturer is disposed within the gas container. The gas container has a longitudinal axis offset from a longitudinal axis of the medicament container. The biasing member is configured to bias the actuator toward the second configuration.

What is claimed is: 1. An apparatus, comprising: a housing; a first medicament container disposed within the housing, the first medicament container including a first elastomeric member; a second medicament container disposed within the housing, the second medicament container including a second elastomeric member; an energy storage member disposed within the housing, the energy storage member configured to produce a force to move each of the first medicament container and the second medicament container within the housing from a first container position to a second container position, to move the first elastomeric member within the first medicament container when the first medicament container is in its second container position, and to move the second elastomeric member within the second medicament container when the second medicament container is in its second container position; and a movable member coupled to the first medicament container and the second medicament container, a portion of the movable member configured to interface with a release mechanism to release the force from the first elastomeric member and the second elastomeric member after the first elastomeric member has been moved within the first medicament container and the second elastomeric member has been moved within the second medicament container. 2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first medicament container is non-coaxial with the second medicament container. 3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first medicament container and the second medicament container are configured to move simultaneously from their respective first container positions to their respective second container positions. 4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein: a first protrusion of the movable member is disposed within the first medicament container and coupled to the first elastomeric member therein; and a second protrusion of the movable member is disposed within the second medicament container and coupled to the second elastomeric member therein. 5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein: the energy storage member is a compressed gas container configured to convey a pressurized gas into the housing to produce the force; and the release mechanism includes a valve configured to release the pressurized gas via an opening when the portion of the movable member is interfaced with the release mechanism. 6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein: the energy storage member is a compressed gas container configured to convey a pressurized gas into the housing to produce the force; and the release mechanism includes a seal member configured to maintain the pressurized gas within the housing, the seal member being movable to release the pressurized gas via an opening when the portion of the movable member is interfaced with the release mechanism. 7. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising: a plurality of retraction springs configured to bias the first medicament container and the second medicament container towards their respective first container positions. 8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first medicament container and the second medicament container are configured to move simultaneously from their respective second container positions towards their respective first container positions after the force is released from the first elastomeric member and the second elastomeric member. 9. An apparatus, comprising: a housing; a plurality of medicament containers disposed within the housing, each medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers including an elastomeric member; a compressed gas container disposed within the housing, the compressed gas container configured to convey a pressurized gas into the housing to produce a force to move each of the plurality of medicament containers within the housing in a first direction from a first container position to a second container position and to move the elastomeric member within each medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers when each of the plurality of medicament containers is in its second container position; an actuator member configured to actuate the compressed gas container when the actuator member is moved within the housing in a second direction; and a plurality of retraction springs configured to bias the plurality medicament containers towards the second direction. 10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein a first medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers is non-coaxial with a second medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers. 11. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the first medicament container and the second medicament container are configured to move simultaneously from their respective first container positions to their respective second container positions. 12. The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein: the first medicament container is configured to move from its second container position towards its first container position after the force is released from the elastomeric member within the first medicament container, and in response to a first retraction force produced by a first retraction spring from the plurality of retraction springs; and the second medicament container is configured to move from its second container position towards its first container position after the force is released from the elastomeric member within the second medicament container, and in response to a second retraction force produced by a second retraction spring from the plurality of retraction springs. 13. The apparatus of claim 9 , further comprising: a movable member coupled to each medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers, a portion of the movable member configured to interface with a release mechanism to release the force from the elastomeric member within each medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers after the elastomeric member within each medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers has been moved. 14. The apparatus of claim 9 , further comprising: at release mechanism including a valve configured to release the pressurized gas via an opening when a portion of a movable member is interfaced with the release mechanism, the movable member being engaged with at least one of the medicament containers from the plurality of medicament containers. 15. The apparatus of claim 14 , wherein: the release mechanism includes a seal member configured to maintain the pressurized gas within the housing, the seal member being movable to release the pressurized gas via an opening when the portion of the movable member is interfaced with the release mechanism. 16. An apparatus, comprising: a housing; a plurality of medicament containers disposed within the housing, each medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers including an elastomeric member; a compressed gas container configured to convey a pressurized gas into the housing to produce a force to move each of the plurality of medicament containers within the housing from a first container position to a second container position and to move the elastomeric member within each medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers when each of the plurality of medicament containers is in its second container position; and a movable member coupled to each medicament container from the plurality of medicament containers, a portion of the movable member configured to interface with a valve to release the pressurized gas via an opening after the elastomeric member wit
