Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A traffic condition data providing method using a wireless communication device and a navigation device performing the method are disclosed. The navigation device includes a travelling path displaying unit that searches a travelling path to a destination set by a user and displays the travelling path on map data, a traffic condition data receiving unit that receives traffic condition data from a content managing server through a wireless communication device in response to a request of providing the traffic condition data over the travelling path, and a traffic condition data providing unit that provides the user with the received traffic condition data.

The invention claimed is: 1. A navigation device comprising: a travelling path displaying unit that searches a travelling path to a destination set by a user and displays the travelling path on map data; a traffic condition data receiving unit that receives traffic condition data from a content managing server through a wireless communication device in response to a request to provide a traffic condition data over the travelling path, wherein the traffic condition data includes a real-time image of traffic at a first point of interest over the travelling path and a real-time message of a variable message sign for traffic, wherein the variable message sign is positioned at a second point of interest over the travelling path, wherein receiving the traffic condition data includes receiving traffic condition data corresponding to a point of interest (POI) over the travelling path by analyzing the POI; and a traffic condition data providing unit that provides the user with the received traffic condition data having both the real-time image of traffic corresponding to the first point of interest over the travelling path and the real-time message of the variable message sign corresponding to the second point of interest over the travelling path, wherein the traffic condition data providing unit provides traffic condition data associated with the map data based at least in part on a user's position and movement along the travelling path. 2. The navigation device of claim 1 , wherein the wireless communication device includes one of: a wireless Internet access device provided in the navigation device, and a wireless communication terminal for engaging in near-field wireless communication with the navigation device. 3. The navigation device of claim 2 , wherein the wireless communication terminal is a terminal that identifies, through terminal authentication with the content managing server, whether the terminal subscribes to a service of providing the traffic condition data. 4. The navigation device of claim 3 , wherein the wireless communication terminal is a terminal registered with the content managing server. 5. The navigation device of claim 1 , wherein the content managing server processes the traffic condition data based on image setup information including at least one of file format, transmission rate, resolution, and frame. 6. A navigation device comprising a travelling path displaying unit that searches a travelling path to a destination set by a user and displays the travelling path on map data, a traffic condition data receiving unit that receives traffic condition data from a content managing server through a wireless communication device in response to a request to provide the traffic condition data over the travelling path, wherein the traffic condition data includes a real-time image of traffic at a first point of interest over the travelling path and a real-time message of a variable message sign for traffic, wherein the variable message sign is positioned at a second point of interest over the travelling path, wherein receiving the traffic condition data includes receiving traffic condition data corresponding to a point of interest (POI) over the travelling path by analyzing the POI; and a traffic condition data providing unit that provides the user with the received traffic condition data including both CCTV data of the real-time image of traffic at the first point of interest over the traveling path and the real-time message of the variable message sign at the second point of interest over the travelling path, wherein the traffic condition data providing unit provides traffic condition data associated with the map data based at least in part on a user's position and movement along the travelling path. 7. A method of providing traffic condition data through a navigation device, said method comprising: searching a travelling path to a destination set by a user; displaying the travelling path on map data; receiving traffic condition data from a content managing server through a wireless communication device in response to a request to provide the traffic condition data over the travelling path, wherein the traffic condition data includes traffic image data with a real-time image of traffic at a first point of interest over the travelling path and a real-time message of a variable message sign for traffic, wherein the variable message sign is positioned at a second point of interest over the travelling path, wherein the receiving the traffic condition data includes receiving traffic condition data corresponding to a point of interest (POI) over the travelling path by analyzing the POI; and providing the user with the received traffic condition data of both the real-time image of traffic corresponding to the first point of interest over the travelling path and the real-time message of the variable message sign at the second point of interest over the travelling, wherein the traffic condition data providing unit provides traffic condition data associated with the map data based at least in part on a user's position and movement along the travelling path. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the wireless communication device includes at least one of a wireless Internet access device provided in the navigation device, and a wireless communication terminal that may perform near field wireless communication with the navigation device. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the wireless communication terminal is a terminal that identifies, through terminal authentication with the content managing server, whether the terminal subscribes to a service of providing the traffic condition data. 10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the wireless communication terminal is a terminal registered with the content managing server. 11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the content managing server processes the traffic condition data based on image setup information including at least one of: file format, transmission rate, resolution, and frame. 12. A method of providing traffic condition data through a navigation device, said method comprising: searching a travelling path to a destination set by a user; displaying the travelling path on map data; receiving traffic condition data from a content managing server through a wireless communication device in response to a request to provide the traffic condition data over the travelling path, wherein the traffic condition data includes traffic image data with a real-time image of traffic at a first point of interest over the travelling path and a real-time message of a variable message sign for traffic, wherein the variable message sign is positioned at a second point of interest over the travelling path, wherein receiving the traffic condition data includes receiving traffic condition data corresponding to a point of interest (POI) over the travelling path by analyzing the POI; and providing the user with the received traffic condition data including a traffic image data, wherein the traffic image data comprises both CCTV data of the real-time image of traffic at the first point of interest over the traveling path and the real-time message of the variable message sign at the second point of interest over the travelling path, wherein a traffic condition data providing unit provides traffic condition data associated with the map data based at least in part on a user's position and movement along the travelling path. 13. A non-transitory recording medium readable by a computer, the medium including executable instructions for searching a travelling path to a destination set by a user; displaying the travelling path on map dat
