A coating composition is described comprising: (i) a zwitterionic compound comprising sulfonate-functional groups and alkoxysilane groups and/or silanol-functional groups; (ii) alcohol and/or water; and (iii) a tetraalkoxysilane, oligomers thereof, lithium silicate, sodium silicate, potassium silicate, silica, or combinations thereof, along with coated articles and methods of making and using.

What is claimed is: 1. A coating composition comprising: (i) a zwitterionic compound comprising sulfonate-functional groups and alkoxysilane groups and/or silanol-functional groups wherein the zwitterionic compound is of the following Formula (II): (R 1 O) p —Si(R 2 ) q —W—N + (R 3 )(R 4 )—(CH 2 ) m —SO 3 −   (II) wherein: each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, methyl group, or ethyl group; each R 2 is independently a methyl group or an ethyl group; R 3 and R 4 are (a) independently a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain, branched, or cyclic organic group, (b) joined together to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring or (c) joined together along with W to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring; W is an organic linking group; p is an integer of 1 to 3 and m is an integer of 1 to 4; q is 0 or 1; and p+q=3; (ii) alcohol and/or water; and (iii) a tetraalkoxysilane, oligomers thereof, lithium silicate, sodium silicate, potassium silicate, silica, or combinations thereof. 2. The coating composition of claim 1 , wherein the coating composition comprises no greater than 20 wt % of the zwitterionic compound. 3. The coating composition of claim 1 , wherein the coating composition comprises 0.1 to 20 wt % of the tetraalkoxysilane, oligomers thereof, lithium silicate, sodium silicate, potassium silicate, silica, or combinations thereof. 4. The coating composition of claim 1 , wherein the zwitterionic compound comprises at least one of: the coating composition comprising: (i) a zwitterionic compound comprising sulfonate-functional groups and alkoxysilane groups and/or silanol-functional groups wherein the zwitterionic compound is of the following Formula (II) (R 1 O) p —Si(R 2 ) q —W—N + (R 3 )(R 4 )—(CH 2 ) m —SO 3 −   (II) wherein: each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, methyl group, or ethyl group; each R 2 is independently a methyl group or an ethyl group; each R 3 and R 4 is (a) independently a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain, branched, or cyclic organic group, (b) joined together to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring or (c) joined together along with W to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring; W is an organic linking group; p and m are integers of 1 to 3; q is 0 or 1; and p+q=3. 5. A coated article comprising a substrate surface, a primer coating disposed on the substrate surface, and a sulfonate-functional coating bonded to the primer coating through siloxane bonds, wherein the sulfonate-functional coating is derived from a coating composition and wherein the primer coating provides —OH groups on the surface of the substrate, the coating composition comprising: (i) a zwitterionic compound comprising sulfonate-functional groups and alkoxysilane groups and/or silanol-functional groups wherein the zwitterionic compound is of the following Formula (II): (R 1 O) p —Si(R 2 ) q —W—N + (R 3 )(R 4 )—(CH 2 ) m —SO 3 −   (II) wherein: each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, methyl group, or ethyl group; each R 2 is independently a methyl group or an ethyl group; each R 3 and R 4 is (a) independently a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain, branched, or cyclic organic group, (b) joined together to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring or (c) joined together along with W to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring; W is an organic linking group; p is an integer of 1 to 3 and m is an integer of 1 to 4; q is 0 or 1; and p+q=3; (ii) alcohol and/or water; and (iii) a tetraalkoxysilane, oligomers thereof, lithium silicate, sodium silicate, potassium silicate, silica, or combinations thereof. 6. A coated article comprising a substrate surface, a nanoparticle-containing primer disposed on the substrate surface, and a sulfonate-functional zwitterionic coating bonded to the nanoparticle-containing primer through siloxane bonds, wherein the nanoparticle-containing primer comprises agglomerates of silica nanoparticles having average particle diameters of 40 nanometers or less, said agglomerates comprising a three-dimensional porous network of silica nanoparticles, and the silica nanoparticles are bonded to adjacent silica nanoparticles wherein the sulfonate-functional coating is derived from a coating composition, the coating composition comprising: (i) a zwitterionic compound comprising sulfonate-functional groups and alkoxysilane groups and/or silanol-functional groups wherein the zwitterionic compound is of the following Formula (II): (R 1 O) p —Si(R 2 ) q —W—N + (R 3 )(R 4 )—(CH 2 ) m —SO 3 −   (II) wherein: each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, methyl group, or ethyl group; each R 2 is independently a methyl group or an ethyl group; each R 3 and R 4 is (a) independently a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain, branched, or cyclic organic group, (b) joined together to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring or (c) joined together along with W to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring; W is an organic linking group; p is an integer of 1 to 3 and m is an integer of 1 to 4; q is 0 or 1; and p+q=3; (ii) alcohol and/or water; and (iii) a tetraalkoxysilane, oligomers thereof, lithium silicate, sodium silicate, potassium silicate, silica, or combinations thereof. 7. A method of cleaning a surface, the method comprising; wiping the sulfonate-functional coating of a coated article having fingerprints on the sulfonate-functional coating; and removing the fingerprints, the coated article comprising a substrate surface, a nanoparticle-containing primer disposed on the substrate surface, and a sulfonate-functional zwitterionic coating bonded to the nanoparticle-containing primer through siloxane bonds, wherein the nanoparticle-containing primer comprises agglomerates of silica nanoparticles having average particle diameters of 40 nanometers or less, said agglomerates comprising a three-dimensional porous network of silica nanoparticles, and the silica nanoparticles are bonded to adjacent silica nanoparticles wherein the sulfonate-functional coating is derived from a coating composition, the coating composition comprising: (i) a zwitterionic compound comprising sulfonate-functional groups and alkoxysilane groups and/or silanol-functional groups wherein the zwitterionic compound is of the following Formula (II): (R 1 O) p —Si(R 2 ) q —W—N + (R 3 )(R 4 )—(CH 2 ) m —SO 3 −   (II) wherein: each R 1 is independently a hydrogen, methyl group, or ethyl group; each R 2 is independently a methyl group or an ethyl group; each R 3 and R 4 is (a) independently a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain, branched, or cyclic organic group, (b) joined together to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring or (c) joined together along with W to form a saturated or unsaturated, straight chain or branched ring; W is an organic linking group; p is an integer of 1 to 3 and m is an integer of 1 to 4; q is 0 or 1; and p+q=3; (ii) alcohol and/or water; and (iii) a tetraalkoxysilane, oligomers thereof, lithium silicate, sodium silicate, potassium silicate, silica, or combinations thereof. 8. The method of claim 7 further comprising applying water and/or water vapor to the fingerprints and removing the fingerprints by wiping. 9.
