Process for preparing bicyclic or tricyclic (meth)acrylates by reacting (meth)acrylic acid with a bicyclic or tricyclic hydrocarbon which contains at least one double bond using montmorillonite as catalyst.

The invention claimed is: 1. A process for preparing bicyclic or tricyclic (meth)acrylates, comprising by reacting (meth)acrylic acid with a bicyclic or tricyclic hydrocarbon which contains at least one double bond in the presence of a montmorillonite catalyst. 2. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the montmorillonite catalyst is present in an amount of 5-50 % by weight, based on (meth)acrylic acid. 3. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the bicyclic hydrocarbon is camphene, norbornene or dicyclopentadiene. 4. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the catalyst is bentonite. 5. The process according to claim 1 , wherein the reaction is carried out at 50-250° C.
