We claim the following: 1. A method of activating CB2 receptor comprising contacting the CB2 receptor with a CB2 receptor agonistic effective amount of a compound of formula structure I: or a salt, ester or prodrug thereof, wherein: R 1 is selected from the group consisting of NH, NHR 4 , NR 4 R 5 , any carbon atom of which may be optionally substituted; R 2 is an aryl substituted alkyl; R 3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, aryl, and heteroaryl, any carbon atom of which may be optionally substituted; and R 4 and R 5 vary independently and are selected from the group consisting of aryl, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, and alkynyl, any carbon atom of which may be optionally substituted. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is selected from the group consisting of:
with only hydrogen atoms, hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon radicals, directly attached to carbon atoms of the hetero ring · CPC title
