Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An adaptor for endovascular electrocardiography includes a member having two ends and an inner lumen such that when one of the ends is connected to a catheter and the other end is connected to a syringe, fluid from the syringe is flushed into the catheter through the inner lumen. The adaptor also includes a metal insert, disposed along the inner lumen of the member, which connects through a sealed electrical connection to the outer side of the member.

What is claimed is: 1. An adaptor for endovascular electrocardiography, comprising: a member having a first end, a second end, and an inner lumen, the first end designed to be connected to a luer of a catheter and the second end designed to be connected to a syringe, such that fluid from the syringe is flushed into the catheter through the inner lumen; and a metal ring, disposed along the inner lumen of the member and located fully inside the member, the metal ring connecting through a sealed electrical connection to an outer side of the member, the metal ring separated from the catheter by a section of the member when the first end of the member is connected to the luer of the catheter. 2. The adaptor according to claim 1 , wherein the metal ring comprises a metal ring disposed along an inner surface of the inner lumen. 3. The adaptor according to claim 1 , wherein the metal ring terminates prior to the two ends of the member. 4. The adaptor according to claim 1 , further comprising a wire having a first end connected to the metal ring. 5. The adaptor according to claim 4 , further comprising a connector coupled to an opposing end of the wire. 6. The adaptor according to claim 5 , wherein the connector comprises external insulation. 7. The adaptor according to claim 5 , wherein the connector is configured to plug into an electronic module. 8. The adaptor according to claim 5 , wherein the connector comprises a nipple shape. 9. The adaptor according to claim 1 , wherein an exterior most surface of the one of the ends of the adaptor is tapered. 10. The adaptor according to claim 9 , wherein the other end comprises a luer connector. 11. The adaptor according to claim 1 , wherein a body portion provides a connection between the metal ring along an inner surface of the inner lumen of the member and a wire external to the member through a perforation in a wall of the member. 12. The adaptor according to claim 11 , wherein the connection through the wall is waterproof. 13. The adaptor according to claim 1 , wherein the two ends of the member comprise different external and internal diameters. 14. An assembly for endovascular electrocardiography, comprising: the adaptor according to claim 1 ; and a connector separate from a body of the adaptor coupled to the metal ring. 15. The assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the connector is coupled to the adaptor by a wire between the metal ring and the connector, the wire configured to freely orient the connector with respect to the adaptor. 16. The assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the connector is configured to plug into an electronic module. 17. The assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the connector comprises a nipple shape.
