Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

An undercarriage assembly includes a link assembly, including a plurality of laterally spaced pairs of track links pivotally connected to one another at pivot joints to form an endless chain, each laterally spaced pair of track links including a first track link and a second track link with a space between the first track link and the second track link. The undercarriage assembly may also include a first carrier skid projecting upward into the space between the first track link and the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links.

What is claimed is: 1. An undercarriage assembly, comprising: a link assembly, including a plurality of laterally spaced pairs of track links pivotally connected to one another at pivot joints to form an endless chain, each laterally spaced pair of track links including a first track link and a second track link with a space between the first track link and the second track link; a first carrier skid projecting upward into the space between the first track link and the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links wherein the first carrier skid includes a first carrier surface engaging at least one of a pin or a bushing connecting the first track link and the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links; and a second carrier skid projecting upward into the space between the first track link and the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links. 2. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein the second carrier skid includes a second carrier surface engaging at least one of a pin or a bushing connecting the first track link and the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links. 3. The assembly of claim 2 , wherein the first carrier surface is laterally spaced from the second carrier surface. 4. The assembly of claim 3 , wherein: the first carrier skid has a laterally inner side surface and a laterally outer side surface opposite its laterally inner side surface; the second carrier skid has a laterally inner side surface and a laterally outer side surface opposite its laterally inner side surface; the laterally inner side surface of the first carrier skid faces toward the laterally inner side surface of the second carrier skid; the laterally outer side surface of the first carrier skid is disposed adjacent the first track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links; and the laterally outer side surface of the second carrier skid is disposed adjacent the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links. 5. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first carrier skid includes a first side surface and a second side surface, the first and second side surfaces extending substantially parallel to one another. 6. The assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first carrier skid includes a first vertically extending leg and a second vertically extending leg. 7. The assembly of claim 6 , wherein the first carrier surface includes: a first ramp that slopes upward as it extends away from the first vertically extending leg toward the second vertically extending leg; and a second ramp that slopes upward as it extends away from the second vertically extending leg toward the first vertically extending leg. 8. An undercarriage assembly, comprising: a link assembly, including a plurality of laterally spaced pairs of track links pivotally connected to one another at pivot joints to form an endless chain; a track roller frame having an inclined surface that slopes in a lateral direction; a first carrier skid having a first carrier surface, the first carrier skid extending upward from a first point on the inclined surface to the first carrier surface; and a second carrier skid having a second carrier surface, the second carrier skid extending upward from a second point on the inclined surface to the second carrier surface, wherein a vertical distance from the second point on the inclined surface to a top of the second carrier surface is different from a vertical distance from the first point on the inclined surface to a top of the first carrier surface. 9. The assembly of claim 8 , wherein the first carrier skid has a first side surface and a second side surface opposite the first side surface, the first side surface and the second side surface of the first carrier skid extending substantially parallel to one another. 10. The assembly of claim 8 , wherein the first carrier skid includes a first vertically extending leg and a second vertically extending leg disposed between the inclined surface and the first carrier surface. 11. The assembly of claim 10 , wherein the first carrier surface includes: a first ramp that slopes upward as it extends away from the first vertically extending leg toward the second vertically extending leg; and a second ramp that slopes upward as it extends away from the second vertically extending leg toward the first vertically extending leg. 12. An undercarriage assembly, comprising: a link assembly, including a plurality of laterally spaced pairs of track links pivotally connected to one another at pivot joints to form an endless chain, each laterally spaced pair of track links including a first track link and a second track link with a space between the first track link and the second track link; and a track roller frame having an inclined surface that slopes in a lateral direction; a first carrier skid having a first carrier surface, the first carrier skid extending upward from a first point on the inclined surface to the first carrier surface, the first carrier surface being disposed within the space between the first track link and the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links; and a second carrier skid having a second carrier surface, the second carrier skid extending upward from a second point on the inclined surface to the second carrier surface, the second carrier surface being disposed within the space between the first track link and the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links, wherein a vertical distance from the second point on the inclined surface to a top of the second carrier surface is different from a vertical distance from the first point on the inclined surface to a top of the first carrier surface. 13. The assembly of claim 12 , wherein the first carrier surface is laterally spaced from the second carrier surface. 14. The assembly of claim 13 , wherein: the first carrier skid has a laterally inner side surface and a laterally outer side surface opposite its laterally inner side surface; the second carrier skid has a laterally inner side surface and a laterally outer side surface opposite its laterally inner side surface; the laterally inner side surface of the first carrier skid faces toward the laterally inner side surface of the second carrier skid; the laterally outer side surface of the first carrier skid is disposed adjacent the first track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links; and the laterally outer side surface of the second carrier skid is disposed adjacent the second track link of at least one of the laterally spaced pairs of track links. 15. The assembly of claim 14 , wherein: the laterally inner side surface and laterally outer side surface of the first carrier skid extend substantially parallel to one another; and the laterally inner side surface and laterally outer side surface of the second carrier skid extend substantially parallel to one another. 16. The assembly of claim 12 , wherein the first carrier skid has a first side surface and a second side surface opposite the first side surface, the first side surface and the second side surface of the first carrier skid extending substantially parallel to one another. 17. The assembly of claim 12 , wherein the first carrier skid includes a first vertically extending leg and a second vertically extending leg disposed between the inclined surface and the first carrier surface. 18.
