Opening claim text (preview).
The invention claimed is: 1. A connector for use in a respiratory gas sampling and/or delivery tubing systems, the connector comprising: a primary female connector having a form of a tapered cone, said primary female connector comprising an opening at its deepest point, and a spring loaded insert configured to be inserted through said opening essentially along a central axis of said primary female connector, wherein said spring loaded insert comprises a first conductive material, said first conductive material configured to close a circuit with a second conductive material positioned on a secondary female section of a primary male connector when said primary female connector and said primary male connector are correctly placed with respect to one another, wherein said conducting material covers the entire spring loaded insert. 2. The connector of claim 1 , wherein when said primary female connector mates with a primary male connector, said spring loaded insert is at least partially inserted into a secondary female section of said primary male connector. 3. The connector of claim 2 , wherein said spring loaded insert has a length L, which is higher than E max, wherein E max is the maximal distance formed between a deepest point of said primary female connector and a top distal part of said primary male connector, when said primary female connector and said primary male connector are mated. 4. The connector of claim 1 , wherein said spring loaded insert is tubular. 5. The connector of claim 1 , wherein said spring loaded insert is conical. 6. The connector of claim 1 , wherein said spring loaded insert comprises an inner channel having a diameter d 1 . 7. The connector of claim 6 , wherein diameter d 1 is essentially constant along the length of said spring loaded insert. 8. The connector of claim 1 , wherein said primary female connector comprises threads on an outer part thereof. 9. The connector of claim 1 , wherein a distal end of said spring loaded insert is located within a void of said primary female connector, said void being defined by an interior bore of said primary female connector. 10. The connector of claim 1 , wherein a depth of the spring loaded insert is configured to permit allowance for tolerance. 11. The connector of claim 1 , wherein said spring loaded insert comprises a first magnetic element arranged to connect with a second magnetic element positioned on a primary male connector when said primary female connector and said primary male connector at least partially mate with one another. 12. A connector for use in a respiratory gas sampling and/or delivery tubing systems, the connector comprising: a primary female connector having a form of a tapered cone, said primary female connector comprising an opening at its deepest point, and a spring loaded insert configured to be inserted through said opening essentially along a central axis of said primary female connector, wherein said spring loaded insert comprises a first conductive material, said first conductive material configured to close a circuit with a second conductive material positioned on a secondary female section of a primary male connector when said primary female connector and said primary male connector are correctly placed with respect to one another, wherein said spring loaded insert is made of said conductive material. 13. A connector for use in a respiratory gas sampling and/or delivery tubing systems, the connector comprising: a primary female connector having a form of a tapered cone, said primary female connector comprising an opening at its deepest point, and a spring loaded insert configured to be inserted through said opening essentially along a central axis of said primary female connector, wherein said spring loaded insert comprises a first optical element arranged to connect with a second optical element positioned on a primary male connector when said primary female connector and said primary male connector at least partially mate with one another. 14. The connector of claim 13 , wherein said first optical element comprises a light source.
