Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A compressor assembly having a high velocity muffler system which produces a particle-free compressor pump feed while reducing noise output from the compressor assembly during compressing operations. The high velocity muffler system is maintenance-free and comprises an inertia filter. The compressor assembly uses a method for producing a compressor pump feed and reducing noise during compressing operations by processing a gas through the high velocity muffler system which has an inertia filter and a muffler chamber to produce a compressor pump feed which can be compressed by a pump assembly.

We claim: 1. A compressor assembly, comprising: a pump assembly which receives a gas from a gas feed system; wherein the gas feed system has an inertia filter which filters the gas before the gas is fed to a muffler, the muffler having a muffler chamber which is the product of a blow molding process. 2. The compressor assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the gas is an air. 3. The compressor assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the muffler has a muffler chamber with a wall thickness of 0.125 inches or less. 4. The compressor assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the muffler has a muffler chamber with a wall thickness of 0.075 inches or less. 5. The compressor assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of said muffler chamber. 6. A compressor assembly, comprising: an inertia filter which filters a gas that is fed to a muffler chamber; wherein the muffler chamber feeds the gas to a pump assembly; and wherein the compressor has a produced noise which is in a range of 60 dBA to 75 dBA when compressing the gas. 7. The compressor assembly according to claim 6 , wherein the compressor has a produced noise which is 71 dBA or less when compressing the gas. 8. The compressor assembly according to claim 6 , wherein the compressor has a produced noise which is 65 dBA or less when compressing the gas. 9. The compressor assembly according to claim 6 , wherein the compressor has a produced noise which is in a range of 60 dBA to 70 dBA when compressing the gas. 10. The compressor assembly according to claim 6 , wherein the pump assembly has a compressed gas flowrate of 2.4 SCFM to 3.5 SCFM. 11. The compressor assembly according to claim 6 , wherein the pump assembly has a compressed gas pressure in a range of from 150 to 250 psig. 12. The compressor assembly according to claim 6 , further comprising a cooling fan or cooling at least a portion of the compressor assembly having a flowrate 50 SCFM, or greater. 13. The compressor assembly according to claim 6 , further comprising a cooling fan having a cooling rate of 60 BTU/min or greater. 14. A compressor assembly, comprising: an air feed system having an inertia filter which is maintenance-free and by which a gas is filtered; and a muffler though which the gas flows prior to being fed to a pump assembly. 15. The compressor assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the compressor has a compressor feed path which is maintenance-free. 16. The compressor assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the inertia filter has a pressure drop of 0.05 psi or less. 17. The compressor assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the muffler is maintenance-free. 18. The compressor assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the muffler is maintenance-free and wherein the muffler further comprises a sound absorption material configured as an internal absorber within the muffler. 19. The compressor assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the inertia filter and the muffler are each maintenance-free. 20. The compressor assembly according to claim 14 , wherein the pump assembly can operate maintenance-free for at least 500 hrs.
