What is claimed is: 1. A vulcanizable composition of matter comprising: i. a multi-modal polybutadiene polymer consisting of two distinct peak molecular weights, where both peak molecular weights are within a range defined by a lower limit of 80 kg/mole and an upper limit of 500 kg/mole, where the polybutadiene includes at least 90% of its mer units in the cis-1,4-configuration; ii. a filler; iii. a curative for the rubber. 2. The composition of claim 1 , where the multi-modal polymer consists of two distinct peak molecular weights within a range defined by lower limit of 85 kg/mole and an upper limit of 450 kg/mole.
