Official abstract text for this publication.
An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording material by ejecting ink; and an image processing unit that, in a case where information of a bar code image is included in image information for forming an image by the image forming unit, carries out a process of making a drop size of the ink used for pixels constituting an edge portion in the bar code image smaller than a drop size of the ink used for pixels constituting a portion other than the edge portion.

What is claimed is: 1. An image forming apparatus comprising: an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording material by ejecting ink; and an image processing unit that, in a case where information of a bar code image is included in image information for forming the image by the image forming unit, carries out a process of making a drop size of the ink used for pixels constituting an edge portion in the bar code image smaller than a drop size of the ink used for pixels constituting a portion other than the edge portion, and that expands the pixels constituting the edge portion to two pixels or more from the edge portion. 2. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the image processing unit carries out the process in a case where the pixels constituting the edge portion extend in a direction intersecting a transport direction of the recording material, and does not carry out the process in a case where the pixels constituting the edge portion extend in any direction other than the direction intersecting the transport direction of the recording material. 3. The image forming apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the image processing unit carries out a process of reducing a pixel value of each of the pixels constituting the edge portion. 4. The image forming apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the image processing unit carries out a process of reducing a pixel value of each of the pixels constituting the edge portion. 5. An image processing device comprising: an image information obtaining section that obtains image information for forming an image by an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording material by ejecting ink; a drop size selection section that, in a case where bar code image information is included in the image information, carries out a selection for making a drop size of the ink used for pixels constituting an edge portion in the bar code image smaller than a drop size of the ink used for pixels constituting a portion other than the edge portion; and an edge processor that expands the pixels constituting the edge portion to two pixels or more from the edge portion. 6. An image forming method comprising: forming an image on a recording material by ejecting ink; and in a case where information of a bar code image is included in image information used for forming the image, carrying out a process of making a drop size of the ink used for pixels constituting an edge portion in the bar code image smaller than a drop size of the ink used for pixels constituting a portion other than the edge portion, and expanding the pixels constituting the edge portion to two pixels or more from the edge portion.
