A portable terminal is provided for operation in a first mode in which information is provided on a first curved surface area or a second mode in which information is provided on a second curved surface area, and controlling the display to provide, in response to an occurrence of an event while in the first mode, information related to the event on the first curved surface area, and provide, in response to the occurrence of the event while in the second mode, information related to the event on the second curved surface area.

What is claimed is: 1. An electronic device comprising: a display, the display comprising: a main surface area, a first curved surface area extended from a first side of the main surface area, and a second curved surface area extended from a second side of the main surface area; and a controller for controlling the electronic device to operate in a first mode in which information is provided on the first curved surface area or a second mode in which information is provided on the second curved surface area, and controlling the display to provide, in response to an occurrence of an event while in the first mode, information related to the event on the first curved surface area, and provide, in response to the occurrence of the event while in the second mode, information related to the event on the second curved surface area wherein, when the event is detected while the display does not provide information and a mode of the electronic device is the first mode, the information related to the event is provided to the first curved surface area, and the second curved surface area and the main surface area maintain a state in which information is not provided. 2. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first curved surface area is located on a right side of the main surface area, and the second curved surface area is located on a left side of the main surface area. 3. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein a mode of the electronic device is set by a user input. 4. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the event comprises one of receiving a call, receiving a message, receiving information regarding a push service, receiving a mail, and receiving an SNS notification. 5. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the state in which information is not provided is a state to provide the display as a single color or a state in which power is not provided to the display. 6. The device as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising: a sensor which detects an orientation of the electronic device, wherein the controller, according to the detected orientation of the electronic device, controls the display to rotate the information related to the event which is provided to one the first curved surface area and the second curved surface area. 7. The device as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the controller controls the display to provide one of the first curved surface area and the second curved surface area with a color bar which corresponds to a type of the event. 8. An electronic device comprising: a display, the display comprising: a main surface area, a first curved surface area continuously extended from a first side of the main surface area, and a second curved surface area continuously extended from a second side of the main surface area; and a controller for controlling the electronic device to operate in a first mode in which information is provided on the first curved surface area or a second mode in which information is provided on the second curved surface area, and controlling the display to provide, in response to an occurrence of an event while in the first mode, information related to the event on the first curved surface area, and provide, in response to the occurrence of the event while in the second mode, information related to the event on the second curved surface area, wherein, when the event is detected while the display does not provide information, the information related to the event is provided to the first curved surface area, and the second curved surface area and the main surface area maintain a state in which info a ion is not provided. 9. The device as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the first curved surface area is located on a right side of the main surface area, and the second curved surface area is located on a left side of the main surface area. 10. The device as claimed in claim 8 , wherein a mode of the electronic device is set by a user input. 11. The device as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the event comprises one of receiving a call, receiving a message, receiving information regarding a push service, receiving a mail, and receiving an SNS notification. 12. The device as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the state in which information is not provided is a state to provide the display as a single color or a state in which power is not provided to the display. 13. The device as claimed in claim 8 , further comprising: a sensor which detects an orientation of the electronic device, wherein the controller, according to the detected orientation of the electronic device, controls the display to rotate the information related to the event which is provided to one the first curved surface area and the second curved surface area. 14. The device as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the controller controls the display to provide one of the first curved surface area and the second curved surface area with a color bar which corresponds to a type of the event. 15. An electronic device comprising: a display, the display comprising: a main surface area, a first edge surface area continuously extending at an inclined angle from a first side of the main surface area, and a second edge surface area continuously extending at an inclined angle from a second side of the main surface area; and a controller for controlling the electronic device to operate in a first mode in which information is provided on the first edge surface area or a second mode in which information is provided on the second edge surface area, and controlling the display to provide, in response to an occurrence of an event while in the first mode, information related to the event on the first edge surface area, and provide, in response to the occurrence of the event while in the second mode, information related to the event on the second edge surface area, wherein, when the event detected while the display does not provide information, the information related to the event is provided to the first edge surface area, and the second edge surface area and the main surface area maintain a state in which information is not provided. 16. The device as claimed in claim 15 , wherein the first edge surface area is located on a right side of the main surface area, and the second edge surface area is located on a left side of the main surface area. 17. The device as claimed in claim 15 , wherein a mode of the electronic device is set by a user input. 18. The device as claimed in claim 15 , wherein the event comprises one of receiving a call, receiving a message, receiving information regarding a push service, receiving a mail, and receiving an SNS notification. 19. The device as claimed in claim 15 , wherein the state in which information is not provided is a state to provide the display as a single color or a state in which power is not provided to the display. 20. The device as claimed in claim 15 , further comprising: a sensor which detects an orientation of the electronic device, wherein the controller, according to the detected orientation of the electronic device, controls the display to rotate the information related to the event which is provided to one the first edge surface area and the second edge surface area. 21. The device as claimed in claim 15 , wherein the controller controls the display to provide one of the first edge surface area and the second edge surface area with a color bar which corresponds to a type of the event.
