Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A perforated plate for a vibratory sifter, the perforated plate including a base plate comprising a plurality of openings formed therethrough, and a flange integrally formed with the base plate. A method of forming a screen assembly for a vibratory sifter, the method including forming a base plate, forming a plurality of openings extending from a top surface to a bottom surface of the base plate, and forming an integral flange on the base plate.

What is claimed: 1. A method comprising: forming a circular base plate without any openings; adding a plurality of openings in the base plate, the plurality of openings extending from a top surface to a bottom surface of the base plate to form a perforated base plate; and forming an integral flange on the base plate, wherein the forming an integral flange comprises: forming a first portion extending perpendicularly downward from a planar surface of the base plate; forming a second portion extending radially outward from a lower circumference of the first portion; and forming a third portion extending radially outward from an outer circumference of the second portion at a predetermined angle. 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the forming the integral flange comprises: rotating the base plate at a predetermined speed; and applying a force to a portion of the rotating base plate proximate an outer circumference. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the forming the integral flange comprises stamp pressing the formed base plate. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the forming the integral flange comprises vacuum forming the formed base plate. 5. The method of claim 2 , wherein the forming the integral flange further comprises disposing a mold proximate the outer circumference of the base plate. 6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the applying a force to the portion of the rotating base plate comprises applying a tool to the portion and moving the portion into the mold to form the integral flange. 7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising coupling a gasket to the integral flange of the base plate. 8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the coupling comprises inserting the integral flange into a circumferential groove formed on an inside diameter of the gasket. 9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising applying a coating to the base plate. 10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the forming of the plurality of openings is performed prior to the forming of the integral flange. 11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the forming of the plurality of openings is performed after the forming of the integral flange. 12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the forming the second portion comprises forming the second portion parallel to a planar surface of the base plate. 13. The method of claim 1 , wherein the predetermined angle is in a range between 5 degrees and 40 degrees from a plane parallel with the second portion. 14. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second portion and the third portion are located in two different planes. 15. A method comprising: providing a perforated circular base plate having a plurality of openings extending from a top surface to a bottom surface of the base plate and a flange formed integrally with the perforated base plate, into a screen frame of a vibratory separator; and coupling a circumferential gasket to the flange to form a screen assembly such that a top surface and a bottom surface of the flange engage a circumferential groove formed on an inner surface of the gasket; and inserting the screen assembly into a screen frame of a vibratory separator, wherein the circumferential gasket is inserted between two engagement surfaces of the screen frame. 16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the flame comprises: a first portion extending perpendicularly downward from a planar surface of the base plate; a second portion extending radially outward from a lower circumference of the first portion; and a third portion extending radially outward from an outer circumference of the second portion at a predetermined angle. 17. The method of claim 16 , the placing comprising: placing the third portion, parallel to an engagement surface of the screen frame of the vibratory separator. 18. The method of claim 16 , further comprising disposing the third portion in the circumferential groove. 19. The method of claim 15 , further comprising passing a feed material comprising particles larger and smaller than the plurality of openings through the vibratory sifter. 20. The method of claim 15 , further comprising: disposing a filter element comprising a filter element frame in the vibratory separator; and engaging the filter element frame with the flange.
