Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A method and an apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals thereof are disclosed. The apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals, the apparatus comprises an encoder for encoding service data corresponding to each of a plurality of data transmission path, wherein each of the data transmission path carries at least one service component, an encoder for encoding signaling data, a frame builder for building at least one signal frame including the encoded service data, a modulator for modulating the at least one signal frame by an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) scheme and a transmitter for transmitting the broadcast signals carrying the at least one modulated signal frame.

First claim

What is claimed is: 1. A method for transmitting broadcast signals, the method comprising: encoding service data corresponding to a Physical Layer Pipe; first encoding signaling data; padding zero bits to the first encoded signaling data; and second encoding the zero padded signaling data by appending parity bits, wherein a size of the padded zero bits is calculated based on a size of information bits and parity data of the first encoded signaling data and a size of information bits of the second encoding; building at least one signal frame including the encoded service data and the encoded signaling data; modulating the at least one signal frame by an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) scheme; and transmitting the broadcast signals carrying the at least one modulated signal frame. 2. The method of claim 1 , the encoding the signaling data further including: permuting the parity bits in the second encoded signaling data; puncturing the second encoded signaling data including the permuted parity bits; and mapping the punctured signaling data into constellation symbols. 3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the puncturing the second encoded signaling data performs: puncturing at least one of the permuted parity bits based on a permutation order, wherein the permutation order is determined based on a code rate, wherein the code rate is determined based on a size of the signaling data, and the encoding the signaling data further includes removing the inserted zero bits. 4. The method of claim 3 , the permuting the parity bits further including: interleaving the permuted parity bits based on a permutation pattern. 5. The apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals, the apparatus comprising: data encoder to encode service data corresponding to a Physical Layer Pipe; a first encoder to first encode the signaling data; and an inserter to pad zero bits to the first encoded signaling data; a second encoder to second encode the zero padded signaling data by appending parity bits, wherein a size of the padded zero bits is calculated based on a size of information bits and parity data of the first encoded signaling data and a size of information bits of the second encoding a frame builder to build at least one signal frame including the encoded service data; a modulator to modulate the at least one signal frame by an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) scheme; and a transmitter to transmit the broadcast signals carrying the at least one modulated signal frame. 6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the second encoder to encode the signaling data further performing: permuting the parity bits; puncturing at least one of the permuted parity bits based on a permutation order, wherein the permutation order is determined based on a code rate, wherein the code rate is determined based on a size of the signaling data; and a remover for removing the inserted zero bits. 7. The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the permuting the parity bits performs interleaving the permuted parity bits based on a permutation pattern.
