The invention claimed is: 1. A system for use in a respiratory gas sampling and/or delivery tubing systems comprising: a first primary Luer female connector comprising a first tapered cone, wherein the first tapered cone inverts back into a first secondary male section and returns into a void of said first primary Luer female connector, said first secondary male section comprising a first inner fluid flow channel extending along the length thereof; and a second primary Luer female connector comprising a second tapered cone, wherein the second tapered cone inverts back into a second secondary male section and returns into a void of said second primary Luer female connector, said second secondary male section comprising a second inner fluid flow channel extending along the length thereof; and an open electrical circuit between said first primary Luer female connector and said second primary Luer female connector wherein said electrical circuit is closed only when said first primary Luer female connector is connected to a first primary Luer male connector of a monitor and said second primary Luer female connector is connected to a second primary Luer male connector of a sampling tube. 2. The system of claim 1 , wherein said first secondary male section further comprises a first conducting material and said second secondary male section further comprises a second conducting material. 3. The system of claim 2 , wherein said first conducting material comprises at least three receiving conducting pads, each receiving conductor pad separated from its neighboring conducting pad by a non-conducting gap. 4. The system of claim 2 , wherein said second conducting material comprises at least three receiving conducting pads, each receiving conductor pad separated from its neighboring conducting pad by a non-conducting gap. 5. The system of claim 1 , wherein inner walls of said first secondary male section are essentially parallel to inner walls of said first inner fluid flow channel; and wherein inner walls of said second secondary male section are essentially parallel to inner walls of said second inner fluid flow channel. 6. The system of claim 1 , wherein said first primary female Luer connector further comprises a first optical element positioned on the first secondary male section. 7. The system of claim 6 , wherein said second primary female Luer connector further comprises a second optical element positioned on said second secondary male section.
