Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Described is a syringe carrier comprising a body adapted to receive a barrel of a syringe. The body includes an annular groove formed in a distal end and adapted to receive a circlip disposed in a circumferential gap between the barrel of the syringe and a needle shield covering a needle of the syringe.

First claim

The invention claimed is: 1. A syringe carrier comprising: a circlip; a body adapted to receive a barrel of a syringe; the body including an annular groove formed in a distal end and adapted to receive the circlip disposed in a circumferential gap between the barrel of the syringe and a needle shield, the needle shield removably arranged on and covering a needle of the syringe, wherein, when the needle shield is coupled to the needle, a portion of the needle shield covers a portion of a neck of the syringe, leaving the circumferential gap between the barrel and the needle shield. 2. The syringe carrier according to claim 1 , wherein a diameter of the groove is larger than a diameter of the body and substantially equal to a diameter of the circlip. 3. The syringe carrier according to claim 1 , wherein the circlip is in a compressed state in the body and an expanded state in the groove. 4. The syringe carrier according to claim 1 , wherein the engagement of the circlip in the groove prevents axial movement of the syringe relative to the syringe carrier. 5. The syringe carrier according to claim 1 , wherein the groove includes one or more apertures. 6. The syringe carrier according to claim 5 , wherein the circlip is coupled to an external surface of the body and partially extends through the one or more apertures to engage the circumferential gap between the barrel of the syringe and the needle shield covering the needle of the syringe. 7. The syringe carrier according to claim 1 , wherein the body includes one or more viewing windows. 8. The syringe carrier according to claim 1 , wherein the body includes a retainer element adapted to provide an abutment surface to prevent the syringe from disengaging the syringe carrier in a proximal direction. 9. A syringe carrier comprising: a circlip; a body adapted to receive a barrel of a syringe, the body including an annular groove formed in a distal end and adapted to receive the circlip disposed in a circumferential gap between the barrel of the syringe and a needle shield covering a needle of the syringe, wherein the groove includes one or more apertures, and the circlip is coupled to an external surface of the body and partially extends through the one or more apertures to engage the circumferential gap between the barrel of the syringe and the needle shield. 10. The syringe carrier according to claim 9 , wherein a diameter of the groove is larger than a diameter of the body and substantially equal to a diameter of the circlip. 11. The syringe carrier according to claim 9 , wherein the circlip is in a compressed state in the body and an expanded state in the groove. 12. The syringe carrier according to claim 9 , wherein the engagement of the circlip in the groove prevents axial movement of the syringe relative to the syringe carrier. 13. The syringe carrier according to claim 9 , wherein the body includes one or more viewing windows. 14. The syringe carrier according to claim 9 , wherein the body includes a retainer element adapted to provide an abutment surface to prevent the syringe from disengaging the syringe carrier in a proximal direction.
