Herein is disclosed a comprehensive mixer performance estimation method that can be applied to the mixers of the rotor-stator type having various configurations and circulation systems. Specifically, the performance estimation method for the mixers of the rotor-stator type includes the steps of: obtaining the homogenization index: H.I. for each of the mixers, measuring the size of each of the mixers, the power requirements and flow rates during the running time of each of the mixers, estimating the magnitude (smallness or greatness) of the configuration dependent term value of each of the mixer as a whole which is specific to each of the mixers, and estimating the performance of each of the mixers accordingly.

What is claimed is: 1. A mixer of a stator-rotor type comprising a mixer unit that includes a stator having a plurality of openings (holes) and a rotor disposed on the inner side of the stator and spaced by a particular gap away from the stator, wherein the stator and rotor are arranged in such a manner that they can be moving closer to each other and moving farther away from each other in a direction in which a rotary shaft of the rotor extends, the mixer having a construction that is designed by using the Equation 1 given below in such a manner that a particular mixer running time and a particular drop diameter during the particular mixer running time can be obtained when a fluid being processed is subjected to an emulsification, dispersion, particle size breakup or mixing process and by calculating the particular mixer running time and the resulting drop diameter by using the Equation 1: H . I . = P h ρ v h Q V t m = ( N qd ( N p - π 2 · N qd ) d 8 π · h · δ ( δ + d ) + π 4 n s dl ) ( N 4 · t m V ) = C h ( N 4 · t m V ) the Equation 1 In the Equation 1, H.I: Homogenization Index [m 2 /s 3 ]
