The invention claimed is: 1. A seating unit for use in a space including a supporting floor surface, the seating unit comprising: a seat structure comprising a mounting bracket having a female connector; a tablet assembly comprising a support arm having a mounting collar on an end; and a base having a lower end to be supported by the floor surface and including a base mounting assembly; and wherein the base mounting assembly comprises a cup attached to the base, a base tube having a first end inserted into the cup and a second end extending through the mounting collar and mateably engaging the female connector; and wherein the tablet assembly further comprises a bushing inserted into a bottom of the mounting collar and a pivot cover nested over a top of the mounting collar and the end of the support arm. 2. The seating unit of claim 1 , wherein the base further comprises a base support having a top central hub and the cup further comprises a flange at a top end, wherein the cup is inserted into the central hub and the flange is attached to the base support. 3. The seating unit of claim 2 wherein at least a lower portion of the mounting collar is received in an upward opening formed by the cup. 4. The seating unit of claim 1 , wherein the pivot cover comprises a channel, an opening through which the support arm extends, and first and second stop surfaces. 5. The seating unit of claim 4 , wherein the mounting bracket further comprises an annular rib surrounding the female connector. 6. The seating unit of claim 5 , wherein the annular rib comprises a first portion connected to a second portion by first and second angled portions, wherein the height of the first portion is greater than the height of the second portion, and wherein the annular rib resides in the channel. 7. The seating unit of claim 6 , wherein the support arm is adapted to rotate relative to the seat structure and wherein rotation of the support arm in a first direction is restricted by the first angled portion contacting the first stop surface and rotation in a second direction is restricted by the second angled portion contacting the second stop surface. 8. The seating unit of claim 1 wherein the base tube is secured to the base for rotation about a rotation axis through the tube and wherein the female connector mounts the seat structure to a top end of the base tube so that the base tube rotates with the seat structure about the rotation axis. 9. The seating unit of claim 1 wherein the collar is supported by the base for rotation about a rotation axis through a limited range of motion independent of the seat structure. 10. The seating unit of claim 1 wherein the weight of the seat structure is imparted to the base substantially entirely through the base tube. 11. The seating unit of claim 10 wherein a shoulder bolt extends axially into a lower end of the base tube to connect the base tube to the base. 12. The seating unit of claim 11 wherein a thrust bearing is provided between an undersurface of the base tube and a facing surface of the base, the base tube and seat structure mounted thereto rotating about a vertical axis and supported during rotation by the thrust bearing. 13. A seating unit for use in a space including a supporting floor surface, the seating unit comprising: a seat structure forming first and second seat stop surfaces; a base having a lower end to be supported by the floor surface; a tablet assembly comprising a support arm having a mounting collar on an end and forming at least first and second tablet assembly stop surfaces; and a tube having first and second ends engaging the base and the seat structure, respectively; the tube extending through the mounting collar so that the tablet assembly is at least partially rotatable about a rotation axis formed by the tube; wherein the seat stop surfaces and the tablet assembly stop surfaces cooperate to restrict rotation of the support arm about the rotation axis. 14. The seat unit of claim 13 wherein rotation of the support arm about the rotation axis in a first direction is restricted by the first seat stop surface contacting the first tablet assembly stop surface and rotation of the support arm about the rotation axis in a second direction is restricted by the second seat stop surface contacting the second tablet assembly stop surface. 15. The seat unit of claim 14 wherein the seat mounting bracket include a rib that forms the first and second seat stop surfaces. 16. The seat unit of claim 15 wherein the tablet assembly forms an annular channel about the rotation axis and wherein the first and second tablet assembly stop surfaces are at opposite ends of the annular channel, the rib received in the annular channel. 17. The seat unit of claim 14 wherein one of the seat structure and the tablet assembly includes a rib having a first portion connected to a second portion by first and second angled portions, wherein the height of the first portion is greater than the height of the second portion and the first and second angled portions form one of the seat stop surfaces and the tablet assembly stop surfaces. 18. The seat unit of claim 17 wherein the other of the seat structure and the tablet assembly forms an annular channel about the rotation axis and wherein the first and second stop surfaces formed by the other of the seat structure and the tablet assembly are at opposite ends of the annular channel. 19. The seat unit of claim 18 wherein the tablet assembly forms the annular channel. 20. The seat unit of claim 19 wherein the tablet assembly includes a pivot cover that forms the annular channel and wherein the pivot cover is connected to the support arm so that the pivot cover is stationary with respect to the support arm. 21. The seat unit of claim 13 wherein the base includes a base mounting assembly including a cup attached to the base and wherein the tube extends through the cup. 22. The seat unit of claim 13 wherein the seat structure includes a mounting bracket that forms a female connector and wherein the tube mateably engages the female connector. 23. The seat unit of claim 13 wherein the base includes a plurality of legs and a bottom pan supported by the plurality of legs below the seat structure. 24. A seating unit for use in a space including a supporting floor surface, the seating unit comprising: a seat structure forming one of an annular channel about a rotation axis and an annular rib about a rotation axis; a base having a lower end to be supported by the floor surface; a tube having first and second ends engaging the base and the seat structure, respectively; and a tablet assembly comprising a support arm having a mounting collar on an end, the tube extending through the mounting collar so that the tablet assembly is at least partially rotatable about a rotation axis formed by the tube, the tablet assembly forming the other of the annular channel about the rotation axis and the annular rib about the rotation axis, the annular rib received within the annular channel. 25. The seating unit of claim 24 wherein the annular channel includes first and second annular wall members spaced apart on opposite sides of the annular channel that define the annular channel. 26. The seating unit of claim 25 wherein the mounting collar is supported by the base for rotation about the rotation axis independent of the seat structure.
