A stainless steel foil contains, in percent by mass, 0.05% or less of C, 2.0% or less of Si, 1.0% or less of Mn, 0.003% or less of S, 0.05% or less of P, 25.0% to 35.0% of Cr, 0.05% to 0.30% of Ni, 3.0% to 10.0% of Al, 0.10% or less of N, 0.02% or less of Ti, 0.02% or less of Nb, 0.02% or less of Ta, 0.005% to 0.20% of Zr, 0.02% or less of Ce, 0.03% to 0.20% of REM excluding Ce, 0.5% to 6.0% in total of at least one of Mo and W, and the balance being Fe and incidental impurities.

The invention claimed is: 1. A stainless steel foil comprising: in percent by mass, 0.05% or less of C, 0.05 to 2.0% of Si, 1.0% or less of Mn, 0.003% or less of S, 0.05% or less of P, more than 28% to 35.0% of Cr, 0.05% to 0.30% of Ni, 4.5% to 10.0% of Al, 0.10% or less of N, 0.02% or less of Ti, 0.02% or less of Nb, 0.02% or less of Ta, 0.005% to 0.05% of Zr, 0.02% or less of Ce, 0.03% to 0.20% of REM excluding Ce, 0.5% to 6.0% in total of at least one of Mo and W, and the balance being Fe and incidental impurities. 2. The stainless steel foil according to claim 1 , wherein, in percent by mass, the steel foil comprises 2.5% to 5.0% in total of at least one of Mo and W. 3. The stainless steel foil according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one of 0.01% to 0.20% (in percent by mass) of Hf, 10 to 300 ppm of Ca, and 15 to 300 ppm of Mg (in ppm by mass). 4. The stainless steel foil according to claim 1 , further comprising, in percent by mass, 0.03% to 1.0% of Cu. 5. The stainless steel foil according to claim 1 , wherein the foil thickness is 40 μm or more. 6. A catalyst carrier for an exhaust gas purifying device comprising the stainless steel foil according to claim 1 . 7. The stainless steel foil according to claim 2 , further comprising at least one of 0.01% to 0.20% (in percent by mass) of Hf, 10 to 300 ppm of Ca, and 15 to 300 ppm of Mg (in ppm by mass). 8. The stainless steel foil according to claim 2 , further comprising, in percent by mass, 0.03% to 1.0% of Cu. 9. The stainless steel foil according to claim 3 , further comprising, in percent by mass, 0.03% to 1.0% of Cu. 10. The stainless steel foil according to claim 2 , wherein the foil thickness is 40 μm or more. 11. The stainless steel foil according to claim 3 , wherein the foil thickness is 40 μm or more. 12. The stainless steel foil according to claim 4 , wherein the foil thickness is 40 μm or more. 13. A catalyst carrier for an exhaust gas purifying device comprising the stainless steel foil according to claim 2 . 14. A catalyst carrier for an exhaust gas purifying device comprising the stainless steel foil according to claim 3 . 15. A catalyst carrier for an exhaust gas purifying device comprising the stainless steel foil according to claim 4 . 16. A catalyst carrier for an exhaust gas purifying device comprising the stainless steel foil according to claim 5 .
