Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems and methods for image organization are provided. An image organization method in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure includes, at a user computing device, receiving an image set comprising a plurality of images, and comparing a portion of each image in the image set with a verified cue library including a plurality of visual cues that correspond to different geographic place tags. The method may further include displaying a recommendation panel including a recommended place tag corresponding to a visual cue that matches the portion.

The invention claimed is: 1. An image organization method comprising, at a mobile computing device: receiving an image set comprising a plurality of images; comparing a portion of each image in the image set with a verified cue library including a plurality of visual cues that correspond to different geographic place tags and a plurality of supplemental cues including a geographic location of the mobile computing device, the geographic location determined from placing a call temporally proximate to a time stamp of one or more images in the image set; displaying a recommendation panel including a recommended place tag corresponding to a visual cue and a supplemental cue including the geographic location that match the portion; receiving a user-provided place tag for a selected image of the image set; comparing a portion of each other image in the image set with visual cues that correspond to the user-provided place tag; and displaying a recommendation window including a recommendation that the user-provided place tag be assigned to images having portions that match the visual cues that correspond to the user-provided place tag. 2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: assigning the recommended place tag to one or more images of the image set in response to receiving a verification that the recommended place tag matches the one or more images. 3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the visual cues in the verified cue library are extracted from verified images stored on the user computing device. 4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the visual cues in the verified cue library are extracted from verified images aggregated from a plurality of computing devices and stored in a data store of a remote computing device cloud accessible by the user computing device. 5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the verified cue library includes a plurality of place name cues that correspond to different geographic place tags, and the method further comprises: comparing a file name of each image in the image set with the place name cues; and displaying, in the recommendation panel, a recommended place tag corresponding to a place name cue that matches the file name. 6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation panel includes a ranked list of recommended place tags. 7. The method of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the plurality of images in the image set does not have an assigned place tag. 8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of supplemental cues are provided from other applications executable by the user computing device that correspond to different geographic place tags, and the method further comprises: comparing a time stamp of each image in the image set with the supplemental cues; and displaying, in the recommendation panel, a recommended place tag corresponding to a supplemental cue that matches the time stamp. 9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the mobile computing device is a mobile phone. 10. An image organization method comprising, at a server computing device: receiving, from a user computing device, an image set including a plurality of images; comparing a portion of each image in the image set with a verified cue library including a plurality of visual cues that correspond to different geographic place tags and a plurality of supplemental cues including a geographic location of the user computing device, the plurality of visual cues being aggregated from a plurality of different sources in a computing device cloud, the geographic location determined from placing a call temporally proximate to a time stamp of one or more images in the image set; sending, to the user computing device, a recommended place tag corresponding to a visual cue and a supplemental cue including the geographic location that match the portion; receiving, from the user computing device, verification that the recommended place tag matches the portion; updating the verified cue library with a new visual cue corresponding to a geographic place tag, the new visual cue being received from one of the plurality of different sources; comparing a portion of each image in the image set with the new visual cue; and sending, to the user computing device, the geographic place tag corresponding to the new visual cue that matches the portion. 11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the verified cue library includes a plurality of place name cues that correspond to different geographic place tags, and the method further comprises: comparing a file name of each image in the image set with the place name cues; and sending, to the user computing device, a recommended place tag corresponding to a place name cue that matches the file name. 12. The method of claim 10 , wherein one or more of the plurality of images in the image set does not have an assigned place tag.
