Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A product dispensing system includes a housing that has a sidewall with at least one surface variation provided thereon. A dispensing opening is provided on a first side of the sidewall. A manual actuation button is provided on a second different side of the sidewall. A gripping force between about 25 N to about 40 N is utilized to hold the housing within a human hand without additional support.

First claim

We claim: 1. A product dispensing system, comprising: a housing having a sidewall with at least one surface variation provided thereon, the sidewall comprising at least a first side and a second different side coupled to the first side, the first side and the second side each configured to extend below a bottom of a container coupled to the housing; a dispensing opening provided on the first side of the sidewall; and a manual actuation button provided on the second different side of the sidewall, a switch that controls an automatic sequence, wherein the container is configured to remain stationary relative to the housing when the manual actuation button is depressed; and wherein a gripping force between about 25 N to about 40 N is utilized to hold the housing within a human hand without additional support. 2. The product dispensing system of claim 1 , wherein the surface variation includes at least one protrusion and orifice. 3. The product dispensing system of claim 1 , wherein the switch is disposed within an interior of the housing. 4. The product dispensing system of claim 1 , wherein the surface variation is provided on the first side of the sidewall and adjacent the dispensing opening. 5. The product dispensing system of claim 1 , wherein the surface variation is provided on the second side of the sidewall. 6. The product dispensing system of claim 1 , wherein the surface variation is provided at least partially on portions of both the first and second sides of the sidewall. 7. A product dispensing system, comprising: a housing having a sidewall extending between a lower surface and an upper surface with at least one surface variation thereon, the sidewall including a first side portion coupled to a second side portion that together form a compartment for a container; a manual actuation button extending at least partially through the second side portion of the sidewall; and a dispensing opening formed completely within the first side portion of the sidewall, wherein the housing is configured to extend below and to keep stationary relative to a bottom of the container coupled to the housing when the manual actuation button is depressed; wherein both the dispensing opening and the manual actuation button are provided within an upper region of the housing, wherein at least a portion of the dispensing opening and a portion of the manual actuation button are radially aligned with one another about a longitudinal axis of the housing. 8. The product dispensing system of claim 7 , wherein the dispensing opening and the manual actuation button are provided within an upper ⅓ of the housing. 9. The product dispensing system of claim 7 , wherein the first side portion opposes the second side portion. 10. The product dispensing system of claim 7 , wherein the sidewall has a greatest diameter dimension of between about 60 mm to about 100 mm in the upper region of the housing. 11. The product dispensing system of claim 7 , wherein the sidewall has a greatest diameter dimension of between about 80 mm to 110 mm. 12. A product dispensing system, comprising: a housing having a sidewall extending between a lower surface and an upper surface with a plurality of surface variations thereon, the sidewall including a first side portion coupled to an opposing second side portion that together form a compartment for a container; a manual actuation button extending at least partially through the second side portion of the sidewall; and a dispensing opening formed completely within the first side portion of the sidewall, wherein at least one of the manual actuation button and the dispensing orifice has a shape similar to at least one surface variation, wherein the dispensing orifice is disposed between at least two of the plurality of surface variations on the first side portion of the sidewall, and wherein the manual actuation button is selectively actuable to emit a product. 13. The product dispensing device of claim 12 , wherein both the manual actuation button and the dispensing opening are provided with shapes that are similar to the at least one surface variation. 14. The product dispensing system of claim 12 , wherein a plurality of surface variations are provided that have a shape, which is similar to at least one of the manual actuation button and the dispensing orifice. 15. The product dispensing system of claim 14 , wherein both the manual actuation button and the dispensing orifice are provided with shapes that are similar to the plurality of surface variations. 16. The product dispensing system of claim 15 , wherein the similar shapes of the manual actuation button, the dispensing orifice, and the plurality of surface variations comprise a leaf shape. 17. The product dispensing system of claim 12 , wherein the shape of the at least one surface variation is a different size than the shape of the at least one of the manual actuation button and the dispensing orifice. 18. The product dispensing system of claim 12 , wherein the shape of the at least one surface variation and the shape of the at least one manual actuation button and dispensing orifice form a pattern, and wherein the shapes are not identical.
