The invention claimed is: 1. A print head assembly for use in an additive manufacturing system, the print head assembly comprising: a carriage configured to be retained by a gantry mechanism of the additive manufacturing system to move the carriage substantially in a plane, wherein the carriage is configured to receive and retain a plurality of print heads at the same time that are configured to be removably replaceable with manual force; a plurality of voice coil mechanisms, each voice coil mechanisms configured to controllably move at least one of the plurality of print heads relative to the carriage in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane, between a lowered position and a raised position; at least one suspension mechanism that is secured to the carriage, and configured to: restrict movement of at least one of the received plurality of print heads relative to the carriage in directions parallel to the plane; and permit each of the voice coil mechanisms to controllably move at least one of the received print heads relative to the carriage in the direction substantially perpendicular to the plane independent of another print head of the plurality of print heads; and a sensor assembly configured to measure the position of the at least one print head relative to the carriage in the direction substantially perpendicular to the plane. 2. The print head assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least one suspension mechanism is further configured to prevent roll, pitch, and yaw movements of at least one of the received print heads relative to a frame of the carriage in the plane. 3. The print head assembly of claim 1 , wherein the voice coil mechanism comprises a plurality of magnets configured to generate magnetic fields, and a voice coil that is disposed at least partially within the generated magnetic fields. 4. The print head assembly of claim 3 , wherein the plurality of magnets are retained by the carriage and the voice coil is retained by a receptacle supported by the carriage and configured to receive one of the plurality of print heads. 5. The print head assembly of claim 1 , wherein the controlled movement of a receptacle and the at least one of the received plurality of print heads relative to the carriage comprises a linear movement along an axis that is substantially perpendicular to the plane. 6. The print head assembly of claim 1 , wherein the at least one suspension mechanism comprises at least one flexure member. 7. The print head assembly of claim 6 , wherein the at least one flexure member comprises: a first flexure member engaged at one or more locations of a receptacle supported by the carriage and configured to receive one of the plurality of print heads; and a second flexure member engaged with the receptacle at two or more locations of the receptacle. 8. A print head assembly for use in an additive manufacturing system, the print head assembly comprising: a carriage configured to be retained by a gantry mechanism of the additive manufacturing system to move the carriage substantially in a plane; a control board retained by the carriage, wherein the carriage is configured to receive and retain a plurality of print heads at the same time that are configured to be removably replaceable with manual force; a plurality of voice coil mechanisms each voice coil mechanisms configured to receive electrical power from the control board to controllably move at least one of the received plurality of print heads relative to the carriage in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane between a lowered position and a raised position; and at least one suspension mechanism that is secured to the carriage, and configured to: restrict movement of the at least one of the received plurality of print heads relative to the carriage in directions parallel to the plane; and permit each of the voice coil mechanisms to controllably move at least one of the received plurality of print heads relative to the carriage in the direction substantially perpendicular to the plane independent of another print head of the plurality of print heads; and a sensor assembly configured to operably measure the position of the at least one of the received plurality of print heads relative to the carriage in the direction substantially perpendicular to the plane, and to send information of the measured position to the control board. 9. The print head assembly of claim 8 , wherein the sensor assembly comprises an optical encoder assembly. 10. The print head assembly of claim 8 , wherein the at least one suspension mechanism is further configured to prevent roll, pitch, and yaw movements relative to the carriage in a plane of a receptacle supported by the carriage and containing a first print head of the at least one of the received plurality of print heads. 11. The print head assembly of claim 10 , and further comprising a second receptacle supported from the carriage and configured to receive a second print head of the at least one of the received plurality of print heads, wherein the print head assembly further comprises: a second voice coil mechanism of the plurality of voice coil mechanisms configured to receive electrical power from the control board to controllably move the second receptacle and the received second print head relative to the carriage in direction substantially perpendicular to the plane; wherein the at least one suspension mechanism is further configured to: restrict movement of the second receptacle and the received second print head relative to the carriage in directions parallel to the plane; and permit the second voice coil mechanism to controllably move the second receptacle and the received second print head relative to the carriage in the direction substantially perpendicular to the plane. 12. The print head assembly of claim 10 , wherein the controlled movement of the receptacle and the first print head of the at least one of the received plurality of print heads relative to the carriage in direction substantially perpendicular to the plane is selected from a group consisting of a linear movement along an axis that is substantially perpendicular to the plane, and a pivoting movement. 13. The print head assembly of claim 8 , wherein each of the voice coil mechanisms of the plurality of voice coil mechanisms comprises: a plurality of magnets retained by the carriage and configured to generate magnetic fields, and a voice coil moveable with a receptacle and disposed at least partially within the generated magnetic fields. 14. A print head assembly for use in an additive manufacturing system, the print head assembly comprising: a carriage configured to be retained by a gantry mechanism of the additive manufacturing system to move the carriage substantially in a plane, wherein the carriage is configured to receive and retain a first and second print head at the same time that are configured to be removably replaceable with manual force; a first voice coil mechanism configured to controllably move the first print head relative to the carriage in a directions substantially perpendicular to the plane; a first suspension mechanism that is secured to the carriage, and configured to: restrict movement of the first print head relative to the carriage in directions parallel to the plane; and permit the voice coil mechanism to controllably move the first print head relative to the carriage in the directions outside of the plane; a second voice coil mechanism configured controllably move the second print head relative to the carriage in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane; a second suspension mechanism that is secured to the ca
