A force amplifying driver system including an actuator ( 12 ) with a powered actuating member ( 22 ) mounted for movement along a first distance “X”. A driven member ( 46 ) mounted for movement along a second distance or working distance “Y” which is less than the first distance “X”. The powered actuating member ( 24 ) is movable through a gap “Z” before being mechanically coupled with the driven member ( 46 ) and subsequently moves with the driven member ( 46 ) along the second distance “Y”. Energy is transferred from the powered actuating member ( 24 ) to the driven member ( 46 ) along the second or working distance “Y”. The force amplifying driver system may be used for actuating a fluid jetting dispenser ( 14 ).

What is claimed is: 1. A fluid jetting dispenser including a force amplifying driver system, comprising: an actuator including a powered actuating member mounted for movement along a first distance; and a valve including a valve member mounted for movement along a second distance less than said first distance, said powered actuating member movable through a gap before being mechanically coupled with said valve member and subsequently moving with said valve member along said second distance, whereby energy is transferred from said powered actuating member to said valve member along said second distance, said valve member operating to dispense a jet of fluid from the valve as a result of movement through the second distance, wherein said valve member further comprises a valve stem with a tip engageable with a valve seat, said valve seat being located in a fluid chamber, whereby said tip engages said valve seat at the end of the second distance and discharges the jet of fluid. 2. The fluid jetting dispenser of claim 1 , wherein said actuator is pneumatically driven. 3. The fluid jetting dispenser of claim 1 , further comprising a biased return mechanism operable to return the valve member to a starting position, and a stop for stopping the valve member at the starting position. 4. A fluid jetting dispenser including a force amplifying driver system, comprising: an actuator including a powered actuating member mounted for movement along a first distance; a valve including a valve member mounted for movement along a second distance less than said first distance, said powered actuating member movable through a gap before being mechanically coupled with said valve member and subsequently moving with said valve member along said second distance, whereby energy is transferred from said powered actuating member to said valve member along said second distance, said valve member operating to dispense a jet of fluid from the valve as a result of movement through the second distance, wherein said valve member further comprises a valve stem with a tip engageable with a valve seat, said valve seat being located in a fluid chamber, whereby said tip engages said valve seat at the end of the second distance and discharges the jet of fluid; and a biased return mechanism operable to return the valve member to a starting position, and a stop for stopping the valve member at the starting position, wherein said stop is coupled to the valve member within the fluid chamber. 5. A fluid jetting dispenser including a force amplifying driver system, comprising: an actuator including a powered actuating member mounted for movement along a first distance; a valve including a valve member mounted for movement along a second distance less than said first distance, said powered actuating member movable through a gap before being mechanically coupled with said valve member and subsequently moving with said valve member along said second distance, whereby energy is transferred from said powered actuating member to said valve member along said second distance, said valve member operating to dispense a jet of fluid from the valve as a result of movement through the second distance, wherein said valve member further comprises a valve stem with a tip engageable with a valve seat, said valve seat being located in a fluid chamber, whereby said tip engages said valve seat at the end of the second distance and discharges the jet of fluid; and a stop coupled to said valve member such that said stop moves with said valve member within the fluid chamber.
