The subject invention provides compositions, and uses thereof, that improve gastrointestinal function. The compositions and methods of the subject invention are particularly advantageous for use with neonates because they can be used to stimulate development of the immature intestine in order to provide an enhanced ability to absorb nutrients and attain a stronger barrier function.
