A method of detecting Paecilomyces variotii , containing identifying Paecilomyces variotii using a nucleic acid represented by the following nucleotide sequence (a) or (b): (a) a partial nucleotide sequence of a β-tubulin gene set forth in any one of SEQ ID NOS: 1 to 4 and 22 to 33, or a complementary sequence thereof; and (b) a nucleotide sequence which includes a nucleotide sequence set forth in any one of SEQ ID NOS: 1 to 4 and 22 to 33 which has a deletion, substitution, or addition of one to several nucleotides and can be used for detecting Paecilomyces variotii , or a complementary sequence thereof.
