The invention relates to N-arylaminomethylenebenzothiophenones of General Formula (I) for use as a drug for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases: wherein E is S, O, or CH 2 , D is CH or NH, and Ar is a phenyl or naphtyl moiety substituted by an electron-withdrawing group, an unsubstituted heteroaryl residue, or a heteroaryl residue substituted by alkyl or an electron-withdrawing group.
