The challenge of providing a long-life solid-state dye laser medium is tackled. This challenge is solved by a solid-state dye laser medium comprising a polydimethylsiloxane, and a dye dissolved in the polydimethylsiloxane. The dye is preferably a pyrromethene dye.

A solid-state dye laser medium, comprising: a polydimethylsiloxane having a nanoporous structure; and a dye dissolved in the polydimethylsiloxane and having such solubility as to impart a dye concentration of 2 mmol/L or more in the medium, the dye moving within the medium, wherein the dye deteriorated by irradiation with light moves, and the dye which has not been deteriorated moves to a portion irradiated with light, whereby the medium can recove…
