Provided are substituted benzaldehydes and derivatives thereof that act as allosteric modulators of hemoglobin, methods and intermediates for their preparation, pharmaceutical compositions comprising the modulators, and methods for their use in treating disorders mediate by hemoglobin and disorders that would benefit from increased tissue oxygenation.

What is claimed is: 1. A compound selected from the group consisting of: having the formula: 2-hydroxy-6-((2-(1-isopropyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-6-((2-(1-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzaldehyde, and 2-hydroxy-6-((2-(1-(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzaldehyde, or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 2. The compound according to claim 1 : having the formula: 2-hydroxy-6-((2-(1-isopropyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzaldehyde or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 3. The compound of claim 1 having the formula: 2-hydroxy-6-((2-(1-(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzaldehyde; or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 4. The compound of claim 1 having the formula: 2-hydroxy-6-((2-(1-(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridin-3-yl)methoxy)benzaldehyde; or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. 5. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of claim 3 . 6. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of claim 2 or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
