An electronic device and a method of booting the electronic device is provided. The electronic device and method include a power supply unit, a volatile memory, a non-volatile memory, and a controller which, in response to power being supplied by the power supply unit, performs booting in a first booting mode that uses a suspend image stored in the volatile memory; and, in response to an error occurring in the first booting mode, performs a next booting in a second booting mode that uses a suspend image stored in the non-volatile memory.
