The present invention relates to a device and a method for transmitting or receiving data in a wireless power transmission system. The present specification discloses a wireless power reception device comprising: a power pickup unit configured to receive, from a wireless power transmission device, wireless power generated on the basis of magnetic coupling in a power transmission phase; and a communication/control unit configured to receive, from the wireless power transmission device, information on a first buffer size indicating the size of a first buffer for receiving a data transmission stream. As the buffer size for exchanging the data transmission stream between the wireless power transmission device and reception device becomes clear, wireless power transmission and communication can proceed smoothly.

1 . A method for transferring a wireless power to a wireless power receiver, the method performed by a wireless power transmitter and comprising: initiating a digital ping to solicit a response; receiving, from the wireless power receiver, the response; and transmitting, to the wireless power receiver, a capability data packet of the wireless power transmitter, wherein the capability data packet includes a buffer size field, wherein the buffer size field informs a size of a buffer for receiving a data transfer stream, wherein a number of bytes in the buffer is defined based on a multiplication of a constant k and 2 n , and wherein the n is a value contained in the buffer size field. 2 . A wireless power transmitter, comprising: a power converter configured to transmit a wireless power generated based on magnetic coupling to a wireless power receiver in a power transfer phase; and a communicator/controller configured to control the wireless power, wherein the wireless power transmitter is configured to: initiate a digital ping to solicit a response; receive, from the wireless power receiver, the response; and transmit, to the wireless power receiver, a capability data packet of the wireless power transmitter, wherein the capability data packet includes a buffer size field, wherein the buffer size field informs a size of a buffer for receiving a data transfer stream, wherein a number of bytes in the buffer is defined based on a multiplication of a constant k and 2 n , and wherein the n is a value contained in the buffer size field.
