Official abstract text for this publication.
A paging method includes: sending a first message and a first indication message, to indicate a first paging manner of a first cell; and paging a UE in the first paging manner, where the first message is for configuring a first user equipment (UE) to use a first paging manner, and the first indication message indicates the first paging manner of a first cell; and paging the first UE in the first paging manner. Wherein the first UE is capable of using the first paging manner, the first paging manner is WUR-based paging, and the first UE camps on the first cell.

1 . A paging method, applied to an access network device or a chip in an access network device, wherein the method comprises: sending a first message and a first indication message, wherein the first message is for configuring a first user equipment (UE) to use a first paging manner, and the first indication message indicates the first paging manner of a first cell; and paging the first UE in the first paging manner, wherein the first UE is capable of using the first paging manner, the first paging manner is WUR-based paging, and the first UE camps on the first cell. 2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the method comprises: sending a second message, wherein the second message is for configuring a second UE to use a second paging manner; and paging the second UE in the second paging manner, wherein the second UE is capable of using the second paging manner, and the second UE camps on the first cell. 3 . The method according to claim 2 , wherein the method comprises: the first paging manner comprises any one of the followings: (1) WUR-based and UE identifier (ID)-based paging; (2) WUR-based and UE group ID-based paging; and (3) WUR-based, UE ID-based, and UE group ID-based paging; and the second paging manner comprises new radio (NR) main receiver only-based paging. 4 . The method according to claim 3 , wherein the method comprises: receiving a first paging message from a core network device, wherein the first paging message is used to page the first UE, and the first paging message indicates that the first UE uses the first paging manner. 5 . The method according to claim 4 , wherein before paging the first UE in the first paging manner, the method comprises: determining, based on the first paging message, to page the first UE in the first paging manner. 6 . The method according to claim 3 , wherein before sending the first message, the method comprises: determining that the first UE is a UE that satisfies a first condition, wherein the first condition comprises at least one of the followings: a UE type is a first type, a UE service type is a first service type, and a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle of the UE is less than or equal to a first threshold. 7 . The method according to claim 6 , wherein the first condition comprises at least one of the followings: (1) the discontinuous reception DRX cycle of the UE is a specific DRX cycle, and the specific DRX cycle of the UE is less than or equal to the first threshold; (2) the first type is a reduced capability (RedCap) does not support extended DRX (eDRX), or is not configured with eDRX; or (3) the first service type is an allowed slice service type determined with a core network device, and the slice service type comprises ultra-reliable low-latency communication, URLLC, massive internet of things, MIOT, or high-performance machine-type communication, HMTC. 8 . A paging method, applied to a user equipment (UE) or a chip in a user equipment (UE), wherein the UE is a first UE, and the method comprises: receiving a first message and a first indication message, wherein the first message is for configuring the first UE to use a first paging manner, and the first indication message indicates the first paging manner of a first cell; determining, based on the first message and the first indication message, to receive paging in the first paging manner; and receiving paging in the first paging manner, wherein the first UE is capable of using the first paging manner, the first UE camps on the first cell, and the first paging manner is paging based on a wake up receiver (WUR). 9 . The method according to claim 8 , wherein the first paging manner comprises any one of the followings: (1) WUR-based and UE identifier (ID)-based paging; (2) WUR-based and UE group ID-based paging; and (3) WUR-based, UE ID-based, and UE group ID-based paging. 10 . The method according to claim 9 , wherein before receiving the first message and the first indication message, the method comprises: indicating, to an access network device, that the first UE is capable of using the first paging manner. 11 . A communication apparatus, wherein the communication apparatus comprises a processor and a memory, the memory stores a computer program, and when the computer program is run by the processor, the communication apparatus is enabled to perform the followings: receiving a first message and a first indication message, wherein the first message is for configuring the communication apparatus to use a first paging manner, and the first indication message indicates the first paging manner of a first cell; determining, based on the first message and the first indication message, to receive paging in the first paging manner; and receiving paging in the first paging manner, wherein the communication apparatus is capable of using the first paging manner, the communication apparatus camps on the first cell, and the first paging manner is paging based on a wake up receiver (WUR). 12 . The communication apparatus according to claim 11 , wherein the first paging manner comprises any one of the followings: (1) WUR-based and UE identifier (ID)-based paging; (2) WUR-based and UE group ID-based paging; and (3) WUR-based, UE ID-based, and UE group ID-based paging. 13 . The communication apparatus according to claim 12 , wherein wherein before receiving the first message and the first indication message, the communication apparatus is enabled to further perform the followings: indicating, to an access network device, that the first UE is capable of using the first paging manner.
