Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

In some aspects, the present disclosure pertains to systems for forming hydrogels that comprise (a) a radiopaque polyamino compound and (b) a reactive polymer comprising a plurality of hydrophilic polymer segments and a plurality of reactive moieties, wherein the reactive moieties are reactive with amino groups of the radiopaque polyamino compound, and wherein the radiopaque polyamino compound is produced by a method that comprises: (i) converting hydroxyl groups of a polyhydroxylated radiopaque compound to amino groups, (ii) converting vicinal diol groups (—CHOHCH 2 OH groups) of a polyhydroxylated radiopaque compound into hydroxyaminoethyl groups (—CHOHCH 2 NH 2 groups), or (iii) converting vicinal diol groups of a polyhydroxylated radiopaque compound into aminomethyl groups (—CH 2 NH 2 groups). In other aspects, the present disclosure pertains to hydrogels formed from such systems and to methods of treatment using such systems.
