Certain embodiments of a folding knife are disclosed. In one embodiment, an example knife may include a handle and a blade carrier. The blade carrier may be rotatable about the handle and may include a left and a right cap. A blade may be removably disposed within the blade carrier. The knife may further include a blade release mechanism. In one embodiment, the blade release mechanism may include a compression spring and a lift bar. In another embodiment, the blade release mechanism may further include a wheel. In yet another embodiment, the blade release mechanism may include a leaf spring and a slide bar. When the blade carrier is rotated such that the knife is not in a cutting position, at least a portion of the blade release mechanism is exposed. When the blade release mechanism is activated, the blade may be removed from within the blade carrier.

The claimed subject matter is: 1 . A knife, comprising: a handle; a blade carrier rotatable about a first pivot point of the handle; a blade storage mechanism rotatable about a second pivot point of the handle; and a blade removably disposed within the blade carrier; wherein the handle includes a recessed region configured to accommodate a first portion of the blade carrier and the blade storage mechanism; and wherein the blade storage mechanism is accessible only when the blade carrier is rotated by a first predetermined angle. 2 . The knife of claim 1 , further comprising a blade release mechanism disposed within the blade carrier, the blade release mechanism comprising a lift bar and a spring. 3 . The knife of claim 1 , wherein the first pivot point is located near a first end of the handle and the second pivot point is located at a second end of the handle that is distal to the first end. 4 . The knife of claim 1 , wherein the knife is configured to have an open state and a closed state, wherein when in the closed state, to access the blade storage mechanism, the blade carrier is rotated out of the recessed region followed by the blade storage mechanism being rotated out of the recessed region. 5 . The knife of claim 4 , wherein the blade carrier is rotated out of the recessed region in a first direction the blade storage mechanism is rotated out of the recessed region in a second direction and wherein the first direction is opposite to the second direction. 6 . The knife of claim 1 , further comprising a push button and wherein operation of the push button causes the blade carrier to rotate around the first pivot point. 7 . The knife of claim 1 , wherein the blade storage mechanism includes a pocket configured to store one or more blades. 8 . The knife of claim 1 , wherein the handle comprises a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion is physically coupled to the second portion, using one or more fasteners. 9 . The knife of claim 1 , wherein the blade carrier is rotatable around a first axis and the blade storage mechanism is rotatable around a second axis. 10 . The knife of claim 1 , further comprising a blade release mechanism, and wherein the blade is removable from the blade carrier when the blade release mechanism is engaged and wherein a portion of the blade release mechanism is only visible once the blade carrier is rotated to a second predetermined angle. 11 . A utility knife comprising: a handle including a first portion and a second portion, the first portion and the second portion together defining a recessed region, the handle having a first end and an opposing second end; a blade carrier coupled to the first end of the handle and configured to rotate about a first pivot point proximate to the first end of the handle; and a blade storage mechanism coupled to the second end of the handle and rotatable about a second pivot point that is proximate to the second end of the handle, wherein the utility knife is configured to have a closed state and an open state and wherein in the closed state, a first portion of the blade carrier and the blade storage mechanism is disposed within the recessed region. 12 . The utility knife of claim 11 , wherein to access the blade storage mechanism when the utility knife is in the closed state, the blade carrier is rotated around the first pivot point followed by rotating the blade storage mechanism around the second pivot point. 13 . The utility knife of claim 11 , wherein the blade carrier further comprises a blade release mechanism that includes a lift bar and a spring, and the lift bar is operable to move from a first position to a second position. 14 . The utility knife of claim 13 , wherein in the second position, the lift bar is in contact with the spring. 15 . The utility knife of claim 11 , wherein the blade storage mechanism is sized and shaped to store a blade when the blade is removed from the blade carrier. 16 . The utility knife of claim 11 , further comprising a blade release mechanism, and wherein a portion of the blade release mechanism is visible only when the blade carrier is rotated by a predetermined angle. 17 . The utility knife of claim 16 , wherein the predetermined angle is at least 45 degrees. 18 . The utility knife of claim 11 , wherein the blade carrier is rotatable around a first axis and the blade storage mechanism is rotatable around a second axis. 19 . The utility knife of claim 11 , further comprising a blade release mechanism, wherein at least a portion of the blade release mechanism is of a different color than the handle. 20 . The utility knife of claim 11 , wherein in the closed state, at least a portion of the blade carrier sits within the blade storage mechanism.
