Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Systems, methods, and modes for commissioning of a building control system comprising at least one controller and a plurality of control devices comprising a plurality of multicolored LEDs and at least one button for controlling at least one associated electrical load. Each control device is assigned a different color sequence comprising a plurality of colors and commanded to drive the plurality of LEDs to illuminate according to the assigned color sequence. The at least one controller receives a logical object and an identification of a plurality of illuminated colors of a control device to be commissioned, selects a control device from the plurality of control devices commanded to illuminate a color sequence that matches the received identification of the plurality of illuminated colors, and associates the selected control device with the received logical object.

What is claimed is: 1 . A system for commissioning a plurality of control devices comprising: a plurality of control devices each comprising a plurality of multicolored LEDs and at least one button for controlling at least one associated electrical load; at least one controller in communication with the plurality of control devices that assigns and transmits a command comprising a different color sequence for each control device, wherein each color sequence comprises a plurality of colors; wherein each control device of the plurality of control devices receiving the assigned color sequence drives the plurality of LEDs to illuminate according to the assigned color sequence; and wherein the at least one controller receives a logical object and an identification of a plurality of illuminated colors of a control device to be commissioned, selects a control device from the plurality of control devices commanded to illuminate a color sequence that matches the received identification of the plurality of illuminated colors, and associates the selected control device with the received logical object. 2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one button comprises a plurality of buttons, wherein each button is backlit via at least one of the plurality of LEDs. 3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of LEDs are used for status indication. 4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of colors comprise at least one selected from the group consisting of a plurality of single colors, a plurality of different color temperatures, and any combinations thereof. 5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the identification of the plurality of illuminated color is received from at least one selected from the group consisting of a user interface, a camera, a light color sensor, and any combinations thereof. 6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one controller is further adapted to measure wireless signal strengths of the plurality of control devices and select a subset of the control devices with the strongest wireless signal strengths. 7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the logical object comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a logical object associated with another device, a logical object associated with a load, a device name, a room name, an area name, a zone name, a group name, a function, a setting, a command, an event, a scene, and any combination thereof. 8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the logical object is received from a user interface. 9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one controller comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a control device of the plurality of control devices, a mobile device, a system control process, a remote server, and any combinations thereof. 10 . A system for commissioning a plurality of control devices comprising: a plurality of control devices each comprising a plurality of multicolored LEDs and at least one button for controlling at least one associated electrical load; a mobile device comprising a camera and a controller that assigns and transmits a command comprising a different color sequence for each control device, wherein each color sequence comprises a plurality of colors; wherein each control device of the plurality of control devices receiving the assigned color sequence drives the plurality of LEDs to illuminate according to the assigned color sequence; wherein the controller of the mobile device receives a logical object and detects a plurality of illuminated colors of an electronic device to be commissioned via the camera, selects a control device from the plurality of control devices commanded to illuminate a color sequence that matches the detected plurality of illuminated colors, and associates the selected control device with the received logical object. 11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the at least one button comprises a plurality of buttons, wherein each button is backlit via at least one of the plurality of LEDs. 12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of colors comprise at least one selected from the group consisting of a plurality of single colors, a plurality of different color temperatures, and any combinations thereof. 13 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the logical object comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a logical object associated with another electronic device, a logical object associated with a load, an electronic device name, a room name, an area name, a zone name, a group name, a function, a setting, a command, an event, a scene, and any combination thereof. 14 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the mobile device transmits the command to the control device directly or through at least one of a system control processor, an intermediary device, a gateway, a wireless hub, or any combinations thereof. 15 . A system for commissioning a plurality of control devices comprising: a plurality of control devices each comprising a plurality of multicolored LEDs and at least one button for controlling at least one associated electrical load, wherein each control device is assigned a different color sequence comprising a plurality of colors, wherein each control device is commanded to drive the plurality of LEDs to illuminate according to the assigned color sequence; at least one controller in communication with the plurality of control devices that receives a logical object and an identification of a plurality of illuminated colors of a control device to be commissioned, selects a control device from the plurality of control devices commanded to illuminate a color sequence that matches the received identification of the plurality of illuminated colors, and associates the selected control device with the received logical object. 16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the at least one button comprises a plurality of buttons, wherein each button is backlit via at least one of the plurality of LEDs. 17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the at least one controller comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a control device of the plurality of control devices, a mobile device, a system control process, a remote server, and any combinations thereof. 18 . A system for commissioning a plurality of control devices comprising: a plurality of control devices each comprising a plurality of multicolored LEDs and at least one button for controlling at least one associated electrical load, wherein each control device is assigned a different color sequence comprising a plurality of colors, wherein each control device is commanded to drive the plurality of LEDs to illuminate according to the assigned color sequence; a mobile device comprising a camera and a controller, wherein the controller receives a logical object and detects a plurality of illuminated colors of an electronic device to be commissioned via the camera, selects a control device from the plurality of control devices commanded to illuminate a color sequence that matches the detected plurality of illuminated colors, and associates the selected control device with the received logical object. 19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the at least one button comprises a plurality of buttons, wherein each button is backlit via at least one of the plurality of LEDs. 20 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the logical object comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of a logical object associated with another device, a logical object associate
