An image forming apparatus includes a developing container, a detection portion detecting an amount of toner in the developing container, a display portion, and a control portion controlling the detection portion to execute a first detection and a second detection, wherein the display portion, in a case where the detection result of the first detection is greater than or equal to a first threshold, displays a first display and, in a case where the detection result is less than the first threshold, displays a second display different from the first display, and in a case where the detection result of the second detection is greater than or equal to a second threshold smaller than the first threshold, displays the first display and, in a case where the detection result is less than the second threshold, displays the second display.

An image forming apparatus that performs image formation for forming a toner image on a recording material, the image forming apparatus comprising: a photosensitive drum; a developing container configured to store toner, the developing container provided with a replenishment opening for toner supply from outside of the image forming apparatus; a developing roller configured to supply the toner stored in the developing container to the photosensitive drum; a detection portion configured to detect an amount of the toner stored in the developing container; a display portion configured to perform display depending on a detection result of the detection portion; and a control portion configured to control the display portion, wherein the control portion controls the detection portion to execute a first detection to reflect a decrease in the amount of the toner in the developing container due to the image formation on a display of the display portion, and a second detection to reflect an increase in the amount of the toner in the developing container due to the toner supply on the display of the display portion, wherein the display portion, in a case where the detection result of the first detection is greater than or equal to a first threshold, displays a first display and, in a case where the detection result of the first detection is less than the first threshold, displays a second display different from the first display, and in a case where the detection result of the second detection is greater than or equal to a second threshold, displays the first display and, in a case where the detection result of the second detection is less than the second threshold, displays the second display, and wherein the second threshold is smaller than the first threshold.
