Official abstract text for this publication.
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for real-time planning and fulfillment of multi-modal transportation services in a multi-modal ride sharing network. In particular, aspects of the present disclosure are directed to a computing system that creates an end-to-end multi-modal itinerary responsive to a user request for transportation service between an origin and a destination. The multi-modal itinerary can include two or more transportation legs that include travel via two or more different transportation modalities such as, as examples, via a car and via an aircraft.

1 - 20 . (canceled) 21 . A computing system comprising: one or more processors; and one or more non-transitory computer-readable media that store instructions that are executable by the one or more processors to cause the computing system to perform operations, the operations comprising: accessing data indicative of an end-to-end itinerary for a user to travel from an origin to a destination, wherein the end-to-end itinerary comprises a plurality of transportation legs that include transportation via a plurality of different transportation modalities, wherein the plurality of transportation legs comprise at least a first transportation leg and a second transportation leg, the first transportation leg comprising ground-based transportation associated with a service provider of ground-based transportation and the second transportation leg comprising flight-based transportation provided via one or more aircraft associated with a service provider of flight-based transportation; accessing data indicative of an updated flight plan associated with the service provider of flight-based transportation; accessing, from a user device over a network, location data associated with the user, the location data indicative of a progress of the user along the end-to-end itinerary; based on the data indicative of the end-to-end itinerary, the data indicative of the updated flight plan, and the location data, computing an updated itinerary for the user; computing an estimated arrival time of the user at the destination based on the updated itinerary; and based on the estimated arrival time of the user the destination, providing data indicative of the updated itinerary to the user device. 22 . The computing system of claim 21 , wherein the updated itinerary comprises a different flight for the second transportation leg of the user. 23 . The computing system of claim 21 , wherein the updated itinerary comprises at least one of: (i) a different departure node for the flight-based transportation or (ii) a different arrival node for the flight-based transportation. 24 . The computing system of claim 21 , wherein the progress of the user along the end-to-end itinerary indicates the user is currently on the first transportation leg. 25 . The computing system of claim 21 , further comprising: computing an evaluation of the updated itinerary based on a deviation of the estimated arrival time and a requested arrival time of the user. 26 . The computing system of claim 25 , wherein computing the evaluation comprises scoring the updated itinerary using an objective function based on the estimated arrival time. 27 . The computing system of claim 26 , wherein computing the evaluation further comprises scoring the updated itinerary using the objective function based on a satisfaction of desired vehicle characteristics requested by the user. 28 . The computing system of claim 21 , wherein the one or more aircraft comprise an eVTOL aircraft. 29 . The computing system of claim 21 , wherein the location data comprises GPS data received from the user device. 30 . The computing system of claim 21 , wherein the location data comprises location data associated with a vehicle providing the ground-based transportation. 31 . A computer-implemented method comprising: accessing data indicative of an end-to-end itinerary for a user to travel from an origin to a destination, wherein the end-to-end itinerary comprises a plurality of transportation legs that include transportation via a plurality of different transportation modalities, wherein the plurality of transportation legs comprise at least a first transportation leg and a second transportation leg, the first transportation leg comprising ground-based transportation associated with a service provider of ground-based transportation and the second transportation leg comprising flight-based transportation provided via one or more aircraft associated with a service provider of flight-based transportation; accessing data indicative of an updated flight plan associated with the service provider of flight-based transportation; accessing, from a user device over a network, location data associated with the user, the location data indicative of a progress of the user along the end-to-end itinerary; based on the data indicative of the end-to-end itinerary, the data indicative of the updated flight plan, and the location data, computing an updated itinerary for the user; computing an estimated arrival time of the user at the destination based on the updated itinerary; and based on the estimated arrival time of the user the destination, providing data indicative of the updated itinerary to the user device. 32 . The computer-implemented method of claim 31 , wherein the updated itinerary comprises a different flight for the second transportation leg of the user. 33 . The computer-implemented method of claim 31 , wherein the updated itinerary comprises at least one of: (i) a different departure node for the flight-based transportation or (ii) a different arrival node for the flight-based transportation. 34 . The computer-implemented method of claim 31 , wherein the progress of the user along the end-to-end itinerary indicates the user is currently on the first transportation leg. 35 . The computer-implemented method of claim 31 , further comprising: computing an evaluation of the updated itinerary based on a deviation of the estimated arrival time and a requested arrival time of the user. 36 . The computer-implemented method of claim 35 , wherein computing the evaluation comprises scoring the updated itinerary using an objective function based on the estimated arrival time. 37 . The computer-implemented method of claim 36 , wherein computing the evaluation further comprises scoring the updated itinerary using the objective function based on a satisfaction of desired vehicle characteristics requested by the user. 38 . The computer-implemented method of claim 31 , wherein the one or more aircraft comprise an eVTOL aircraft. 39 . The computer-implemented method of claim 31 , wherein the location data comprises GPS data received from the user device. 40 . One or more non-transitory computer-readable media that store instructions that are executable by one or more processors to cause the one or more processors to perform operations, the operations comprising: accessing data indicative of an end-to-end itinerary for a user to travel from an origin to a destination, wherein the end-to-end itinerary comprises a plurality of transportation legs that include transportation via a plurality of different transportation modalities, wherein the plurality of transportation legs comprise at least a first transportation leg and a second transportation leg, the first transportation leg comprising ground-based transportation associated with a service provider of ground-based transportation and the second transportation leg comprising flight-based transportation provided via one or more aircraft associated with a service provider of flight-based transportation; accessing data indicative of an updated flight plan associated with the service provider of flight-based transportation; accessing, from a user device over a network, location data associated with the user, the location data indicative of a progress of the user along the end-to-end itinerary; based on the data indicative of the end-to-end itinerary, the data indicative of the updated flight plan, and the location data, compu
