An automatic swimming pool cleaner (APC) for swimming pools and spas may be used to monitor and/or determine a waterline level of the swimming pool or spa. Optionally, the determined waterline level may be provided on a user interface of an external device such as but not limited to a control box or a user device. An alert may be provided to a pool owner or other user based on the waterline level relative to a threshold waterline level. Optionally, at least one piece of equipment associated with the swimming pool or spa may be controlled based on the determined waterline level.

That which is claimed: 1 . A method of monitoring a waterline level of a swimming pool, the method comprising determining the waterline level using a pool cleaner and displaying the waterline level as determined by the pool cleaner. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying the waterline level comprises displaying the waterline level on a screen of an external device. 3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the external device is a control box of the pool cleaner. 4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying the waterline level comprises displaying the waterline level as a graph. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying the waterline level comprises displaying the waterline level over a period of time. 6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein displaying the waterline level comprises displaying the waterline level and an alert limit as a graph over a period of time. 7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising adjusting the alert limit based on input from a user. 8 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the alert limit is a first alert limit, and wherein the method comprises displaying a plurality of alert limits. 9 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising generating an alert responsive to the displayed waterline level being at or below the displayed alert limit. 10 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining an alert limit and displaying the alert limit with the waterline level. 11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the alert limit is adjustable. 12 . A pool system comprising: a pool cleaner configured to determine a waterline level of a swimming pool; and a user interface with a display configured to display the waterline level as determined by the pool cleaner. 13 . The pool system of claim 12 , further comprising a control box associated with the pool cleaner, and wherein the user interface is on the control box. 14 . The pool system of claim 8 , wherein the user interface is on an external device remote from the pool cleaner. 15 . The pool system of claim 8 , wherein the user interface is configured to display the waterline level as a graph. 16 . The pool system of claim 8 , wherein the user interface is configured to display the waterline level and an alert limit as a graph over a period of time. 17 . The pool system of claim 16 , wherein the user interface is configured to receive a user input and adjust the display of the alert limit based on the user input. 18 . The pool system of claim 16 , wherein the alert limit is a first alert limit, and wherein the user interface is configured to display a plurality of alert limits. 19 . The pool system of claim 16 , wherein the user interface is further configured to generate an alert responsive to the displayed waterline level being at or below the displayed alert limit. 20 . The pool system of claim 8 , further comprising a pool filler, wherein the pool system is configured to activate the pool filler to add water to the swimming pool based on the determined waterline level being less than a threshold waterline level.
