Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed for loading and roll-off of reference media assets. Example apparatus disclosed herein are to determine whether a first condition to prune a reference media asset is satisfied, and in response to a determination that the first condition is satisfied, determine whether a second condition to prune the reference media asset is satisfied. Disclosed example apparatus are also to, in response to a determination that the second condition is satisfied: segment the reference media asset into a plurality of segments based on a length of the reference media asset, prune a first one of the segments, and retain a second one of the segments in a database to compare with meter data to credit media exposure associated with the reference media asset.

1 . A computing system comprising: a processor; and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, having stored thereon program instructions that, upon execution by the processor, cause performance of a set of operations comprising: obtaining, from a database, a reference media asset; determining a length of the reference media asset, wherein the length is a total time of the reference media asset; segmenting the length of the reference media asset into a plurality of portions including a first portion and a second portion; replacing, in the database, the reference media asset with the first portion of the plurality of portions; and crediting media exposure using the first portion. 2 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of portions represent discrete time segments of the total time. 3 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the first portion and the second portion of the plurality of portions are temporally adjacent time segments. 4 . The computing system of claim 1 , the set of operations further comprising: pruning the second portion of the plurality of portions from the reference media asset. 5 . The computing system of claim 1 , wherein the reference media asset is associated with a streaming media asset. 6 . The computing system of claim 1 , the set of operations further comprising: obtaining, from a meter, a media asset; and comparing the media asset to the first portion of the plurality of portions. 7 . The computing system of claim 6 , wherein the crediting occurs in response to the comparing. 8 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, having stored thereon program instructions that, upon execution by a processor, cause performance of a set of operations comprising: obtaining, from a database, a reference media asset; determining a length of the reference media asset, wherein the length is a total time of the reference media asset; segmenting the length of the reference media asset into a plurality of portions including a first portion and a second portion; replacing, in the database, the reference media asset with the first portion of the plurality of portions; and crediting media exposure using the first portion. 9 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein each of the plurality of portions represent discrete time segments of the total time. 10 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the first portion and the second portion of the plurality of portions are temporally adjacent time segments. 11 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , the set of operations further comprising: pruning the second portion of the plurality of portions from the reference media asset. 12 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the reference media asset is associated with a streaming media asset. 13 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , the set of operations further comprising: obtaining, from a meter, a media asset; and comparing the media asset to the first portion of the plurality of portions. 14 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the crediting occurs in response to the comparing. 15 . A method comprising: obtaining, from a database, a reference media asset; determining a length of the reference media asset, wherein the length is a total time of the reference media asset; segmenting the length of the reference media asset into a plurality of portions including a first portion and a second portion; replacing, in the database, the reference media asset with the first portion of the plurality of portions; and crediting media exposure using the first portion. 16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein each of the plurality of portions represent discrete time segments of the total time. 17 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the first portion and the second portion of the plurality of portions are temporally adjacent time segments. 18 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising: pruning the second portion of the plurality of portions from the reference media asset. 19 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the reference media asset is associated with a streaming media asset. 20 . The method of claim 15 , further comprising: obtaining, from a meter, a media asset; and comparing the media asset to the first portion of the plurality of portions, wherein the crediting occurs in response to the comparing.
