Abstract

A combined primary label and secondary label comprises a first piece of paper, a first release coating disposed on a portion of the first piece of paper, a second piece of paper, a second release coating different from the first release coating and disposed on a portion of the second piece of paper. The combined primary and secondary label further comprises an adhesive layer disposed between the first and second pieces of paper such that (i) a primary label can be peeled away with at least some adhesive of the adhesive layer from the second release coating disposed on the portion of the second piece of paper, and (ii) a secondary label can be peeled away with at least some adhesive of the same adhesive layer from the first release coating disposed on the portion of the first piece of paper.

First claim

2 . A combination label, comprising:
a first component configured as a primary label, wherein a front side of the first component includes a thermal-sensitive coating for thermal printing; a second component configured as a secondary label, wherein a backside of the second component includes a thermal-sensitive coating for thermal printing; and wherein the first component includes a perforation that defines boundaries of the second component within the first component; wherein the second component is adapted to be separated from the first component via the perforation of the first component and is usable independently as the secondary label after separation.

3 . The combination label of claim 2 , wherein the first component and the second component include a same layer of an adhesive.

4 . The combination label of claim 3 , wherein a front side of the secondary label after separation retains a portion of the adhesive.

5 . The combination label of claim 4 , wherein the front side of the secondary label that corresponds to the portion of the adhesive includes a release coating.

6 . The combination label of claim 5 , wherein the adhesive is a pressure sensitive adhesive.

7 . The combination label of claim 2 , wherein the primary label is adapted to adhere to a package via an adhesive disposed on at least a portion of a backside of the first component.

8 . The combination label of claim 2 , wherein the primary label is rectangular in shape.

9 . The combination label of claim 8 , wherein the secondary label is rectangular in shape.

10 . The combination label of claim 2 , wherein the perforation in the first component is framed to define the boundaries of second component.

11 . The combination label of claim 10 , wherein the boundaries of the second component include an adhesive on a front side of the second component.

12 . The combination label of claim 11 , wherein the adhesive is a pressure-sensitive glue.

13 . The combination label of claim 2 , wherein the primary label is a mailing label and the secondary label is a return label.

14 . A combination label, comprising:
a first piece of paper comprising a front side and a backside, at least a portion of the backside includes an adhesive coating; a second piece of paper comprising a front side and a backside; and a framed shaped area for the first piece of paper and the second piece of paper defined by a perforation, wherein the front side of the first piece of paper enclosed by the framed shaped area representing a first label and the second piece of paper associated with the framed area representing a second label; wherein the front side of the first piece of paper and the backside of the second piece of paper comprises a thermal-sensitive coating.

15 . The combination label of claim 14 , further comprising adhesive to affix the combination label to a package.

16 . The combination label of claim 15 , wherein the framed shaped area corresponding to the first piece of paper and the second piece of paper are separatable via the perforation from the package to obtain the first label and the second label.

17 . The combination label of claim 14 , wherein the frame shaped area is a rectangular area outlined by the perforation.

18 . The combination label of claim 14 , wherein the first label is substantially a same size as the second label.

19 . A combination label, comprising:
a first piece of paper comprising a thermally sensitive coating disposed on a front side of the first piece of paper; a second piece of paper comprising a thermally sensitive coating on a backside of the second piece of paper; and a perforation in at least the first piece of paper defining a framed shaped area in the at least first piece of paper corresponding to a first label associated with at least a portion of the first piece of paper and a second label corresponding to at least a portion of the second piece of paper.

20 . The combination label of claim 19 , wherein the first label and the second label separable from the combination label to obtain the first label and the second label via the perforation.

21 . The combination label of claim 19 , further comprising an adhesive a backside of the combination label to affix the combination label to a package.
