Abstract

Official abstract text for this publication.

A foam material includes the reaction product of a polyol mixture and an isocyanate mixture and a graphite filler obtained from spent lithium-ion batteries in an amount of ≥0.025 wt. % to ≤0.5 wt. % such that the graphite filler provides a foam material that has a plane wave absorption coefficient of greater than or equal to about 0.75 at 600 Hz.

First claim

1 . A foam material comprising the reaction product of a polyol mixture and an isocyanate mixture, and a graphite filler in an amount of greater than or equal to about 0.025 wt. % and less than or equal to about 0.5 wt. %, wherein the graphite is recovered from a lithium ion battery, and wherein the graphite defines a layered structure and adhesion anchor points, such that the graphite filler provides a foam material that has a plane wave absorption coefficient of greater than or equal to about 0.75 at 600 Hz. 2 . The foam material according to claim 1 , wherein the graphite has a purity greater than or equal to about 80%. 3 . The foam material according to claim 1 , wherein the graphite has a purity of greater than or equal to about 95%. 4 . The foam material according to claim 1 , wherein the graphite includes oxygen-containing groups in the form of defects. 5 . (canceled) 6 . A part comprising the foam material according to claim 1 . 7 . A foam material comprising the reaction product of a polyol mixture and an isocyanate mixture, and a graphite recovered from a lithium ion battery, wherein the graphite defines a layered structure and adhesion anchor points, such that the graphite is configured to provide a foam material that has a plane wave absorption coefficient of greater than or equal to about 0.75 at 600 Hz. 8 . The foam material according to claim 7 , wherein the graphite has a purity greater than or equal to about 80%. 9 . The foam material according to claim 8 , wherein the graphite has a purity of greater than or equal to about 95%. 10 . The foam material according to claim 7 , wherein the graphite includes oxygen-containing groups in the form of defects. 11 . The foam material according to claim 7 , wherein the foam material has a tensile strength of greater than or equal to about 90 kPa. 12 . The foam material according to claim 7 , wherein the foam material has a tensile modulus of greater than or equal to about 0.15 MPa. 13 . A part comprising the foam material according to claim 7 . 14 . A foam material comprising the reaction product of a polyol mixture and an isocyanate mixture, and a graphite, wherein the graphite is recovered from a lithium ion battery and defines adhesion anchor points, such that the graphite provides a foam material having a plane wave absorption coefficient of greater than or equal to about 0.75 at 600 Hz. 15 . The foam material according to claim 14 , wherein the graphite has a purity greater than or equal to about 80%. 16 . The foam material according to claim 15 , wherein the graphite is in an amount of greater than or equal to about 0.025 wt. % and less than or equal to about 0.5 wt. %. 17 . (canceled) 18 . The foam material according to claim 14 , wherein the foam material has a tensile strength of greater than or equal to about 90 kPa. 19 . The foam material according to claim 14 , wherein the foam material has a tensile modulus of greater than or equal to about 0.15 MPa. 20 . An automotive component comprising the foam material of claim 14 .
