The present invention aims to provide a method for producing isopropyl alcohol applicable to production of carbon-neutral isopropyl alcohol and capable of efficiently producing isopropyl alcohol with simple operations. The present invention relates to a method for producing isopropyl alcohol, the method including: a step (1) of reacting ethanol and water in the presence of a catalyst to obtain acetone; a step (2) of purifying the acetone; and a step (3) of reducing the acetone to obtain isopropyl alcohol.

A method for producing isopropyl alcohol, the method comprising: a step (1) of reacting ethanol and water in the presence of a catalyst to obtain acetone; a step (2) of purifying the acetone; and a step (3) of reducing the acetone to obtain isopropyl alcohol. 2 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein a reducing agent used in the step (3) includes hydrogen obtained in the step (1). 3 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein a reducing agent used in the step (3) includes hydrogen obtained in the step (2). 4 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein a percentage of an amount of carbon dioxide in all components introduced in the step (3) is less than 10 mol %. 5 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein a reducing agent used in the step (3) includes hydrogen obtained in the step (2), and a percentage of an amount of carbon dioxide in all components introduced in the step (3) is less than 10 mol %. 6 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein the ethanol is derived from biomass as a raw material. 7 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 6 , the method comprising: the step (1) of reacting ethanol and water in the presence of a catalyst to obtain acetone; the step (2) of purifying the acetone; and the step (3) of reducing the acetone to obtain isopropyl alcohol, wherein a reducing agent used in the step (3) includes hydrogen obtained in the step (2), and a percentage of an amount of carbon dioxide in all components introduced in the step (3) is less than 10 mol %. 8 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein the step (3) of reducing the acetone to obtain isopropyl alcohol is performed in the presence of a catalyst in which a metal element is supported on a support selected from activated carbon, silica, alumina, titania, zirconia, ceria, magnesia, and diatomaceous earth. 9 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein a reducing agent used in the step (3) includes hydrogen obtained in the step (2), a percentage of an amount of carbon dioxide in all components introduced in the step (3) is less than 10 mol %, and the step (3) of reducing the acetone to obtain isopropyl alcohol is performed in the presence of a catalyst in which a metal element is supported on a support selected from activated carbon, silica, alumina, titania, zirconia, ceria, magnesia, and diatomaceous earth. 10 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein the step (1) of reacting ethanol and water in the presence of a catalyst to obtain acetone is performed in the presence of a catalyst containing one or more elements selected from alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, iron, manganese, zinc, copper, aluminum, and zirconium. 11 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein the step (1) of reacting ethanol and water in the presence of a catalyst to obtain acetone is performed in the presence of a catalyst containing iron and zirconium, the catalyst containing the zirconium in an amount of 0.2 to 2.0 mol per mole of the iron. 12 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , wherein a catalyst used in the step (3) includes a Ru-containing catalyst. 13 . The method for producing isopropyl alcohol according to claim 1 , the method further comprising a step (4) of purifying hydrogen contained in the gas phase component obtained in the step (2), wherein a molar ratio of hydrogen/carbon dioxide in a hydrogen-rich composition obtained in the step (4) is 90:10 or more.
