An assembly includes a medical device having a stent and a prosthetic valve connected to the stent. The prosthetic valve includes valve leaflets. The assembly further includes a buffer piece having a leaflet cover and a removable attaching structure. The leaflet cover protects the valve leaflets and the removable attaching structure removably attaches the buffer piece to the medical device. The buffer piece prevents contact, imprinting, abrasion, and/or damage to the valve leaflets.

What is claimed is: 1 . A method comprising: removably attaching a buffer piece to a stent of a medical device, wherein the buffer piece holds valve leaflets coupled to the stent of the medical device in place. 2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the buffer piece includes a leaflet cover, wherein the buffer piece is removably attached to the stent such that the leaflet cover is disposed between the valve leaflets and the stent. 3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the buffer piece further includes attaching arms, wherein removably attaching the buffer piece to the stent comprises attaching the attaching arms to each other around the stent. 4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the buffer piece further includes stent anchor arms, wherein removably attaching the buffer piece to the stent further comprises removably attaching the stent anchor arms to axial struts extending between an inflow portion and an outflow portion of the stent. 5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the buffer piece further includes stent anchor arms, wherein removably attaching the buffier price to the stent comprises removably attaching the stent anchor arms to axial struts extending between an inflow portion and an outflow portion of the stent. 6 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising removably attaching a leaflet protection tool to the medical device, the leaflet protection tool comprising protrusions extending between the stent and the valve leaflets, wherein removably attaching the buffer piece comprises removably attaching the buffer piece such that the leaflet cover is disposed between the valve leaflets and the protrusions. 7 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising partially crimping the medical device with the buffer piece and the leaflet protection tool coupled thereto, removing the buffer piece after the partial crimping, and finally crimping the medical device with the buffer piece removed. 8 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising partially crimping the medical device with the buffer piece and the leaflet protection tool coupled thereto, removing the buffer piece and the leaflet protection tool after the partial crimping, and finally crimping the medical device with the buffer piece and the leaflet protection tool removed. 9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising removing the buffer piece prior to crimping the medical device. 10 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the leaflet cover comprises leaflet scallops connected to one another by leaflet scallop bridges, and a center point, the leaflet scallop bridges extending radially inward from the leaflet scallops to be connected at the center point, wherein removably attaching the buffer piece to the medical device comprises locating the center point of the leaflet cover at a center of the valve leaflets at a downstream edge of the valve leaflets, extending each of the leaflet scallop bridges over a respective area of coaptation at the downstream edges of adjacent valve leaflets, and extending each of the leaflet scallops over a respective one of the valve leaflets between the valve leaflet and the stent. 11 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the leaflet cover comprises wherein the leaflet cover comprises leaflet scallops circumferentially coupled to each other at bridges, wherein removably attaching the buffer piece to the medical device comprises locating each of the leaflet scallops between a corresponding one of the valve leaflets of the stent, and extending the bridges over downstream edges of adjacent valve leaflets.
